needed more work than that

You need also to disconnect a diode and a resistor, and add a wire link, otherwise the
backup clock will not work.
I can send send to you an image (the file is about 950 Kb long) of the sheet
describing these modifications. Please let me know.
Apologies for my poor English.

I assume this is because Qplane does not link all the expansion socket
connections?

Mplane does, so I assume it is OK?

These components are located on Gold Card's PCB.

I don't know Mplane's details, whatever these modifications are required for getting
GC fully working at 5 Volt regardles of expansion type socket's you use. Remember to
bridge 7805 regulator.
See image I sent privately.

I have written my usual tome for QL Today.

It was a good show (for me) but poorly attended.

We had a successful link to the internet using my Toshiba Libretto and
mobile phone, with Phoebus' GSM SIM, which gave free internet
connection, but only at 9600 baud.

We had quite severe contention (8-)#

See my web site for photos uploaded at the show, and the amazing
internet setup.

I think you will find that the QXL requires all the sockets to be filled.
The chips are arranged in 2 banks.

Subject: [ql-users] QXL 2 question

 Hi all,
does anyone remember which chips on the QXL2 you can remove to reduce from
 8 Megs to 4 Megs?
Am I wrong to remember that you remove every other chip starting with the
second one from the back of the board?

No you can have only have the sockets filled but you have to use
alternate sockets.

That's what I remembered, although it makes really no difference now as I
think I solved my Aurora/SGC problem :-) It is good to know however.
