 But now, I've got this message in the logfile :

 @40003b5ec127122940fc warning: trouble opening

Restart qmail-send and don't touch the queue while qmail is running.

RE: Begging for a control/spamlovers patch

2001-07-10 Thread Chris Bolt

Perhaps you could use http://www.qmail.org/qqrbl

Then users who don't want spam can filter based on the X-RBL: header.

 I want to convert one more sendmail MX to qmail with rblsmtpd.

 But there is a show stopper: A handful of users demand to
 receive all email, even when it comes from blacklisted IPs.

What do your logs say? Did you apply the big-concurrency patch? Did you
change conf-spawn before compiling? Because if you didn't, your concurrency
is automatically limited to 120.

RE: Scanning POP3-traffic for viruses

2001-06-10 Thread Chris Bolt

http://qmail-scanner.sourceforge.net/

 Hi again!

 Is there a way to scan POP3-traffic for viruses with a Linux box?
 I'm thinking something like Norton's POP-proxy which ships with
 Norton Anti-Virus. It works like a proxy server for
 POP3-protocol, and scans all e-mail attachments for viruses. I
 would like to do the same on my Linux firewall.

RE: mail routing question

2001-06-06 Thread Chris Bolt

Add a line like this to /var/qmail/control/smtproutes:

virtualdomain.tld:newserver.tld

See also http://www.qmail.org/man/man8/qmail-remote.html

 We use Qmail+Vpopmail. we are planning to move a virtual domain to another
 server. but i'm afraid the new incoming email will still store in the old
 server after we change the MX dns record to the new server.

 anyone know how to configure the old server's qmail route the email to new
 server? many many thanks

RE: TCPSERVER status 256

2001-05-26 Thread Chris Bolt

 I am getting a status 256 in the qmail-smtpd log
 files when one of our other servers try to connect
 to the mail server to send mail. The log files from
 the other server is getting good response, the helo
 and response, and sends the data but the messages are
 not getting to the users and there are no entries in
 the qmail-send log file. Can anybody help? Here are
 the entries from qmail-smtpd log file.

If /var/qmail/rc has splogger qmail at the end, remove it and restart
qmail-send and it will start logging correctly.

 This problem doesn't exist if i send a mail trough qmail-inject..

Then it's probably not a problem with qmail. From your attachment:

X-Mailer: Evolution/0.10 (Preview Release)

Have you tried another client, perhaps one that has been declared stable?

Hi,

I've looked in the qmail FAQ but have not found an answer to my
question. I hope someone out there can help me.

I have tried creating an alias for the root user on my FreeBSD system,
but have noticed that if I put an email address with an underscore in
it, such as [EMAIL PROTECTED], in the /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-
root file, the mail never gets forwarded to that address. But the
forwarding seems to works fine with any other address that doesn't
contain an underscore.

Is this a limitation of the qmail alias mechanism? If so, is there a
workaround? If not, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

multilog and missing info

2001-03-18 Thread Chris Bolt

I was previously using splogger, and I just upgraded daemontools and set up
svscan. Now logs are written with multilog, however I am not seeing as much
information in my logs as with splogger. For example, a syslog logfile:

Mar 18 12:55:34 illusion qmail: 984945334.323009 status: local 1/10 remote

Mar 18 12:55:34 illusion qmail: 984945334.324140 new msg 650950

Sorry,_I_couldn't_find_any_host_by_that_name._(#4.1.2)/

And a multilog logfile:

@40003ab5b36e29511c3c tcpserver: status: 1/40
@40003ab5b3812ef8fc7c tcpserver: ok 25834

@40003ab5b38c29168054 tcpserver: status: 0/40

My qmail-smtpd's log/run file consists of this:

#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/local/bin/setuidgid qmaill /usr/local/bin/multilog t s250
/var/log/qmail/qmail-smtpd

So I am not filtering anything with multilog. Any ideas, or is this what is
supposed to be output?
