Changing Passwords
hi folks, I am just wondering if there is any frontend written for qmail administrators who run only SMTP and POP3 services to allow users to easily change their passwords through a browser? Would appreciate any information. Thanks! Regards, Isaiah Chua
Help with virtual domains
hi folks, My qmail is currently running well for my company's email addresses. However, I need to setup some mailboxes that will cater for staff of our sister company, and I'm having problems with the virtual domains in qmail. My company's domain is abc.com (for e.g.), and they have some users on our system, e.g. johndoe. Now johndoe should only send mail out as [EMAIL PROTECTED], and should receive mails at the same address. It should not be a local delivery as the mails for this domain are in fact forwarded from their HQ in Hongkong. I've read up the docs for virtual hosts and it still doesn't seem to help. Changes I've made always point me back to error messages indicating no user exists or cannot accept domain. What am I doing wrong? Regards, Isaiah Chua

Re: qmail won't start!?
hi Dave, The init scripts are in, In what/where? And what's in them? And what platform are you using? Sorry I didn't give enough info. The init scripts are in my /etc/rc.d/init.d dir and softlinked to the various /etc/rcx.d directories. I'm using RH6.2, and used the RPM package to first compile the src then installed it using rpm. By "nothing happens" do you mean that the script runs but doesn't output anything, runs but exits immediately, or what? It runs, but immediately exits. You can't start qmail from inetd.conf. Perhaps you mean qmail-smtpd? Yes, I meant qmail-smtpd.
Converting sendmail mailboxes to qMail
hi, I read somewhere on the mailing list archive that it's possible to convert existing /var/mail/user mailboxes that were under sendmail to qmail Maildir formats using a perl script called convert-and-create. The author said to look for it at the qMail site, but my luck's run dry with that option. Does anyone know where I can find this script? I desperately need to convert 'lost' emails from my boss's sendmail box to qMail so she can pick them up. Thanks! Best regards, Isaiah Chua
qmail won't start!?
hi folks, I've finally got qmail to work with a lot of help from Johan Almqvist and Peter Samuel - thanks guys! However, the funny thing is that when we had to reboot the server, qmail just won't start! The init scripts are in, and I even tried starting it from the command line, but nothing happens. I'm using tcpserver to start the qmail-pop3 and qmail itself in my inetd.conf file. What might be wrong? Best regards, Isaiah ChuaOfficial Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]AIM Nick : radar00
Mental torture
hi folks, I've installed qMail for my office server and it runs fine - delivers mails and all that jazz. However, I'm getting only external mails out, and internal mails to users' mailboxes seem to die. Using /var/qmail/bin/makemaildir, I created a Maildir for myself in my home dir /home/isaiah. Mails do go there, but when I try to check my emails using POP3, nothing comes in. I've got this line in my /etc/inetd.conf pop-3 stream tcp nowait qmaild /usr/sbin/tcpd /var/qmail/bin/tcp-env /var/qmail/bin/qmail-pop3d Is that correct? Or should I use pop-3 stream tcp nowait qmaild /usr/sbin/tcpd /var/qmail/bin/tcp-env /var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup mail.mydomainname.com /bin/checkpasswd pwd The fist one gives me the error The server responded with an error. Account: 'mail.twc-sg.com', Server: 'mail.twc-sg.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR this user has no $HOME/Maildir', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90 while the second one doesn't authenticate me at all and throws me out with a bad authentication message even though the password is correct. Can anyone help? Everyone in the office is throwing bricks at me now for missing their emails... Thanks! Best regards, Isaiah ChuaOfficial Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]AIM Nick : radar00
Another question on mailboxes
hi folks, I keep getting this error message when trying to send mails to my new qmail server at the office: Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail.twc-sg.com.I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.[EMAIL PROTECTED]:Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1) I've already created the Maildir dir in the $HOME for myself. What can be wrong? what does this mean in my logfile?
Anyone knows what this means and if there's any corrective action I should take? May 4 13:43:09 mail qmail: 957418989.903703 delivery 518: deferral: Uh-oh:_.qmail_has_file_delivery_but_has_x_bit_set._(#4.7.0)/ Thanks! Best regards, Isaiah ChuaOfficial Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]AIM Nick : radar00
Compilation errors
hi folks, I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but searching the FAQs didn't produce anything, so I assume it could be new. I'm trying to compile qMail on our RedHat 6.2 server and have downloaded all the necessary files for qMail to be compiled and take over sendmail. However, whenever I try to compile either of the modules and qMail itself, I get a rather similar message for all... after typing 'make setup check': bash# cd qmail*bash# make setup check( ( ./compile tryvfork.c ./load tryvfork ) /dev/null \21 \ cat fork.h2 || cat fork.h1 ) fork.hrm -f tryvfork.o tryvfork./compile qmail-local.cqmail-local.c: In function `main':qmail-local.c:448: warning: return type of `main' is not `int'./compile qmail.c./compile quote.c./compile now.c./compile gfrom.c./compile myctime.c./compile slurpclose.c./compile case_diffb.c./compile case_diffs.c./compile case_lowerb.c./compile case_lowers.c./compile case_starts.c./makelib case.a case_diffb.o case_diffs.o case_lowerb.o \case_lowers.o case_starts.o./compile getln.c./compile getln2.c./makelib getln.a getln.o getln2.o./compile subgetopt.c./compile sgetopt.c./makelib getopt.a subgetopt.o sgetopt.o./compile sig_alarm.cIn file included from /usr/include/signal.h:300, from sig_alarm.c:1:/usr/include/bits/sigcontext.h:28: asm/sigcontext.h: No such file ordirectorymake: *** [sig_alarm.o] Error 1 I already have all the GNU C compilers installed on the server.
