Re: [qmailtoaster] vpasswd Illegal Username

2008-01-18 Thread Cameron
I'm running about 10 domains so it isn't an option. The problem is I have a
billing system which provisions all my accounts so I have to write scripts
which fire when people add/change accounts. I need to be able to change a
user's password from a script, but I can't even do it from the command line.
Anyone seen this problem? Is the actuall user or postmaster the only one
allowed to change the password? I would think as root or su the script
whould fire.

i typically use qmailadmin for stuff like this but I believe you dont need
the @domain.com bit at the end. If your running 1 domain it assumes, if
you have multiple then i believe you use that. try it without the
@domain.com.

On the whole, this works quite well with spam either rejected
(bounced) or tagged and the rest arriving as expected. However, if
the number of emails retrieved by fetchmail is quite large, not
sure how many, but generally more than a hundred, a significant
number start to be rejected by chkuser and cause the email to get
bounced. It's as though the system has become overloaded and can't
cope.

For the time being I have restricted the number of emails retrieved
at any single time by fetchmail and am keeping an eye on the
situation.

Any clues as to where/what I should be looking for or doing would
be greatly appreciated.

If you're running them through like external mail then look at your
/etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp file and adjust your CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT. I've
also noticed a bottle neck in simscan, at around 248 messages where it
will start to say that the destination user does not exist. Might be
something to keep an eye on.

A look at this shows that it is currently set as follows:

:allow,BADMIMETYPE=,BADLOADERTYPE=M,CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT=50,CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT=10,QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/simscan

Maybe I misunderstood CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT, and CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT,
as I believed them to be on a per message basis, not on a batch of
emails submitted at the same time.

The general reason why the number of outstanding emails is if the
server fails (e.g. powercut) and no email is retrieved for several
hours. By the time this has been rectified, I have several hundred,
and sometimes 1000, emails to retrieve. In this situation, would I
be better off removing this setting altogether?

I'd have to double check, but I think it's per SMTP connection which if
you polled 100 messages and then dumped them into the SMTP queue would
trigger. You might also want to look and see if clam is choking - the
version on the main site is prone to this and I'd recommend upgrading to
the version on the devel site.

[qmailtoaster] Messages stuck in the queue

2008-01-18 Thread Jacob Billingsley
I have messages that were headed for my Exchange server stuck in the queue
on my qmail server. We were having some spam/virus issues and meanwhile
another administrator decided to put a few RBLs into Exchange's Intelligent
Message Filter (IMF) which started rejecting email from my qmail server
because that server was listed on these RBLS. So now I have many messages
stuck in my queue that have this in the header:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at server03.

I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Remote host said: 550 5.7.1 x.x.x.x has been blocked by Spamcop

Is there any way to still move these through the queue or how would you guys
deal with this issue. I've tar'd up the whole queue directory just so I have
a backup of the messages, kind of.

Change /var/qmail/control/queuelifetime to something small (I use 3

600). Then do 'qmailctl restart' and then 'qmailctl doqueue' and any of

i typically use qmailadmin for stuff like this but I believe you dont
need the @domain.com bit at the end. If your running 1 domain it
assumes, if you have multiple then i believe you use that. try it
without the @domain.com.

I've seen these problems too, and haven't come up with a concrete solution.

[qmailtoaster] Vconvert

2008-01-18 Thread Raymond Webster
Hello;

I have an existing qmail setup using the Qmailrocks installation. I am in
the process to move over to a Qmailtoaster I have just installed on a
different machine. I used the qmtiso 1.4.0 install disk. I have replicated
the domains over to the qmtiso machine and setup all the files as much as I
could before I will be shutting down the old server and changing the IP of
the new server to the old address. I ran vconvert and it reported that my
domains converted, but when I attempt to pop or squirrelmail into any
accounts I cannot. When popping I get the following message in a telnet
session -ERR this user has no $HOME/Maildir. So I think the conversion is
less than successful. Does anyone know what logs to look at for any
indication of what vpopmail is missing?

[qmailtoaster] No one can send me messages

2008-01-18 Thread Ayesha
Hi all,

I am testing my fresh instalation and I can send to anyone emails. The problem
is receive emails from outside. Users that send me an email received the
following message:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail.mydomain.com.br.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:
Sorry. Although I'm listed as a best-preference MX or A for that host,
it isn't in my control/locals file, so I don't treat it as local. (#5.4.6)

I already check files locals and rcpthosts and my domain is there :(

Does anyone could help me?

Many thanks for help!!!

but localhost is probably not there. However you are sending the
email may be the problem here. Be sure it goes out as [EMAIL PROTECTED]
not just as test.

[qmailtoaster] Local Sending: invalid MX domain

2008-01-18 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Anyone? Here is some additional information.

I am sending from a php script from a web server. The web server has sendmail
set to relay to a QMT server which then sends the email out.

So, from a web server on the local domain, I am sending via php (which has
sendmail path in php.ini) to a QMT server which then sends the email to the
world.

So, this is all happening on the same network but for some reason, this script
is not able to send? Yet, nothing else which I know of has this problem since
I've added the local net's to the tcp.smtp settings on the QMT machines.

Bit confused here...

2008-01-18 12:13:25.130175500 3764 .|...2008-01-18 12:13:26.302539500
CHKUSER rejected sender: from [EMAIL PROTECTED]:: remote
compdev..com:unknown:192.168.1.58 rcpt : invalid sender MX domain

Here's what is weird to me. The above web server is on the local network with
several other web sites on it. All of the other web sites can send email but
this (script) cannot send. Why is the QMT server rejecting the emai? Do I
need to tell it about the domain it is sending for even though it is on the
local net and local net allowed in tcp.smtp?
