I presume you're running rblsmtpd then if not spamdyke. (You really 
should be running spamdyke).


Let's have a look at:

A sluggish rbl could be slowing things down initally.

should have them soon. Check the dates to be sure you have clamav dated 
3/26.


This is for *testing* only. Please report here if you've installed and 
run them, so we know things go.

That's usually indicative of a DNS resolver problem. What's in your 
/etc/resolv.conf file?

Is there any difference if you use ip address instead of name address:

telnet 127.0.0.1 25 ?

Is Squirrelmail installed on the same host? If its not, have enabled
relaying from the Squirrelmail host ip?

And have you checked your firewall settings that the host running
Squirrelmail is allowed to connect via smtp?

In the qmailctl script, the output from simscanmk was being sent to
/dev/null. This makes me wonder if the error message is really harmless,
and the program is doing what it should be doing regardless. Can someone
verify if this is the case or not?



After a little digging into the source code, I've found that our jms1 
combined patch for simscan isn't quite up to date. So I'll be updating 
this. Bad news is, I'm still getting this when rebuilding versions:

LibClamAV Error: cli_cvdverify: Can't read CVD header

The program *is* picking up the correct clamav version. I'm not quite 
sure about the m: and d: values (in the message header that simscan 
adds), but I don't think they're worth troubling over. For the time 
being, I'll create an updated simscan-toaster package with the newer 
jms1 combined patch and an update-simscan script (as previously 
mentioned). I've commented out stderr on "simscanmk -g" so the error 
message doesn't show. I know it's a hack, but I don't think this is 
worth spending any more time on, especially since I have my eye on 
replacing simscan with amavis-new in the long term (as Jake had planned 
to do).


I'll also make appropriate corresponding updates to the clamav package 
(which started this whole simscan thing). This will of course delay 
promoting 0.97.4 to production. I think it's worth it though.

I have seen this behavour as well. Don't remember it happening with
latest versions of TB though. Have you experienced it recently with TB
version >10 ?
