Dear All,

May I know the standard installation of QMT in CentOS7 is targeted for how many

What shall we need to change in case the number of users is increased?
Is there any calculation for the setting, ram and CPU?

This sort of thing is generally server-side filtering. We intend to use Sieve
with dovecot's deliver to provide this functionality in QMT, but it's not in
there yet.

I think you can write a maildrop rule to accomplish this though. While I don't
encourage the use of maildrop because it'll be replaced by sieve soon, I
believe you can achieve what you want with maildrop.

to start with try disabling : pop3_lock_session

ie set pop3_lock_session = no

most of email clients (outlook / thunderbird etc ) make multiple connections
simultaneously to the mailbox which causes problems.

Yes, dovecot should be running.

Probably should add:
# chkconfig dovecot on
# service dovecot start
to the qt-install script.

Not having dovecot running would certainly keep squirrelmail from working. ;)

 Dear Eric,

When I check with nmap, I got the result below:

 Starting Nmap 5.51 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2014-11-15 15:05 HKT
 Nmap scan report for 192.168.0.250
 Host is up (0.020s latency).
 Not shown: 995 closed ports
 PORT STATE SERVICE
 22/tcp open ssh
 25/tcp open smtp
 80/tcp open http
 587/tcp open submission
 3306/tcp open mysql

 No imap was found.

When I checked with chkconfig, I found that dovecot is off.

 dovecot 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off

May I confirm do the new QMT use dovecot or not?

Do it mean that I need to start dovecot after the installation instructions
 below?

 Installation Instructions (pre-wiki)
 .) install CentOS minimal
 # curl

 # curl

 Selinux?

The qt-bootstrap-1 script should have turned off selinux and rebooted.

The new SM configuration should be authenticating on port 587. Alex, can you
 post your SM configuration file?

Personally, I run SM on another host which runs only phpfcgi, so something
may have been lost in the translation. ;) I have seen problems with
permissions in the /var/lib/squirrelmail and /var/spool/squirrelmail
directories with custom setups like mine, where the php user runs SM instead
of apache. This could be a red herring for you though.

This will force resolver to use one that you know is working.

I did edit my hosts file
 adding
 69.144.11.118mirrors.qmailtoaster.com

and then when i ran bootstarp 2 -- it seemed to be much happier

so i went to look for the qt-setup-firewall script [ Q2 ] i seem to
 have 2 ( i found these by Find / -name qt-setup-firewall -print )

 /usr/bin/qt-setup-firewall
 /opt/qmailtoaster-util/bin/qt-setup-firewall

they seem to be the same

need I change both? or if only 1 - which one?

They are the same. One is a symlink to the other. This is according to LSB
standards (which not many Linux systems follow unfortunately).

as I look at these I am . thinking I should change 1 or 3 things

 maybe
MYIP= to what my true ipNumber is and that would be my private num

here is some info My public num= 168.215.62.221 ; my private num=
 192.168.201.221

Yes.

 maybe i should comment out
 iptables -A input -s 192.168.0.0/16

Yes.

or maybe i could - not turn iptables on by commenting out or removing

 chkconfig iptables OFF

That's probably ok, given that you're behind a firewall/router. Just depends on
how secure you think you need to be.

so , again , i am behind a nating firewall.
and I suspect i need to alter my qt-setup-firewall ( one or both )
 what would those changes be

 then run qt-install

Yep.

and then how do i prove that -- i have it all installed OK

It just works. Proceed with creating domain(s) and user accounts.

 thanks much!

 jim S

Sorry to be a little slow and short with the replies. Very busy these days.

Thanks.

and what sort of change would one wish to make?

 Q3

 after i get it installed
how do I prove that it is Ok? running as desired ?
 [ and then I make my domains and add users }

 Thanks

2014-09-02 Thread Alex Kan
Hi Eric,

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry that I didn't mention clear in my last email.

Actually my question is Do we need to modify the firewall setting
(iptables) in the QT server if our server is behind a FW with one to one
NAT?.

==
Just comment out the line with 192.168 in it (presuming that's the range
for your lan) and rerun the script. That should take care of it.
==

That's the answer!!

Thanks!
Alex

I'm in the process of fixing up the firewall script. No telling when that'll
be completed.

Since before I '06, it blocks traffic from private address blocks, assuming
they're spoofed. This caught me too when I first used QMT.

your lan) and rerun the script. That should take care of it.

 Hi Alex,

I think all I installed was bind post QT install.

On your firewall you must allow SMTP traffic to pass to the QT server.
On most firewalls you must 1) create a firewall access rule and 2)
 Create a NAT policy.
