First, it's a good idea to run caching-nameserver on a QMT host. It will reduce network traffic somewhat, and eliminate your dependency on your ISP's DNS resolver for name resolution. That's not a requirement though. The nameserver at 200.12.224.5 is not providing recursion: shu...@edwin:~$ dig @200.12.224.5 shubes.net ; <<>> DiG 9.4.2-P2 <<>> @200.12.224.5 shubes.net ; (1 server found) ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 63059 ;; flags: qr rd; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 13, ADDITIONAL: 14 ;; WARNING: recursion requested but not available The nameserver at 200.30.144.4 is ok though: shu...@edwin:~$ dig @200.30.144.4 shubes.net ; <<>> DiG 9.4.2-P2 <<>> @200.30.144.4 shubes.net ; (1 server found) ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 18576 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 5, ADDITIONAL: 5 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;shubes.net.IN A ;; ANSWER SECTION: shubes.net. 600 IN A 97.124.27.36 ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: shubes.net. 86400 IN NS ns1.mydyndns.org. shubes.net. 86400 IN NS ns2.mydyndns.org. shubes.net. 86400 IN NS ns3.mydyndns.org. shubes.net. 86400 IN NS ns4.mydyndns.org. shubes.net. 86400 IN NS ns5.mydyndns.org. ;; ADDITIONAL SECTION: ns1.mydyndns.org. 223 IN A 204.13.248.76 ns2.mydyndns.org. 24192 IN A 204.13.249.76 ns3.mydyndns.org. 24192 IN A 208.78.69.76 ns4.mydyndns.org. 24192 IN A 91.198.22.76 ns5.mydyndns.org. 24192 IN A 203.62.195.76 ;; Query time: 512 msec ;; SERVER: 200.30.144.4#53(200.30.144.4) ;; WHEN: Wed May 13 09:19:06 2009 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 226 I think if you remove 'nameserver 200.12.224.5' from your resolv.conf, that will fix your problem. Comment out 200.12.224.5 and see if that works. It doesn't look like it's forwarding the request to get the MX.
