Silas,

Sorry to hear about your wounds that aren't healing. I will put you on my
prayer list. I know how that can be I had one two years ago that took six
months. I'll have to look up the name of what they used to put inside. It
seemed to really work. It was something that caused it to heal.

Ok Silas I'll have them duct taped and crossed tonight!
Merry Xmas

I’m trying to make some good New Year’s Resolutions for 2007 and I was
wondering what everyone else is planning to do? We all know the standard
resolutions such as eating healthy and exercising more but I wanted to see if
there
were any creative ideas out there. What’s new for you in 2007?
Hope you have a Happy Holiday and a Healthy New Year!

Telephone chains are nothing new. They have been around for decades. A very
handy way to find out and keep and eye on loved ones. Then cell phones were
created and long distance calls were free, for the most part. Then once
again, people became too busy.
There was a story about a person who started a phone chain on the suggestion
of their church elder, pastor or rabbi and called anyone on the list, made
sure they were ok and disconnected. Before long the chain had grown on
referrals from other churches and organizations. Some of those short calls
developed into longer conversation and lasting friendships. One of those woman
who
was contacted 3 times a week by phone, chose upon her timely passing to will a
greater part of her fortune to the one person who took the time to call her
and see how see was doing all those months and weeks before she passed. The
amount was quite substantial. Kindness, or was it?
Best Wishes

I think that phone chain idea is great. A friend of the family has been

with a raspy voice from dehydration because she hadn't been drinking. She
wanted to limit trips to the bathroom. It was a shock to hear that. She
should have been in a hospital, getting adequate food, drink and assistance.
I
got my mom to call her, my mom called her family, and now she's in the
hospital- AND she has a pressure sore. She could have wasted away to nothing
if my
mom didn't call her family. She's very stubborn AND doesn't have enough
support.

Hi Dillon,

I am taking the, Be Nicer to Others in Your Life, idea as a concept that
I'm making into my New Year's Resolution this year. My life will be better
because of it. Take care and stay strong.

Being nice and considerate to one another doesn't cost a dime and yet is
more valuable than most gifts one receives. A smile, and yes even a phone call

a lot to me and all of us and especially those feeling kind of down and alone.
Sounds like a good idea.

Great news for those of us that have the ability to scratch the inside of their
thigh. Maybe one day they'll figure out how to make something like this work
so we can reconstitute all of our nerve damage.

Paralyzed People
  Dateline- Washington

Needing a wheelchair isn't always the biggest complaint of people left
paralyzed by spinal cord injury. Its also the loss of bladder control. On
Monday, Michigan doctors began a unique experiment to see if rerouting patients
nerves just might fix the problems.
Its a delicate operation. Surgeons cut open a spot on the spine and sew two
normally unrelated nerves together-one from the thigh- with a single hair thin
stitch. It will take several
months for this new nerve bridge to heal, an anxious waiting period for the
first volunteers.
But if it works, merely scratching the thigh should signal the bladder to
empty, allowing patients to ditch their despised catheters and restore a
longed-for degree of freedom, as well as fewer bladder infections and other
serious complications.
Its a technique pioneered in China that is starting to garner international
attention and surgeons at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oaks, Michigan,
hope their new US study will prove if the approach really is a solution for at
least some patients.

I'm sure that the nose nerve was the first considered, but also the first to
be eliminated in looking for just the right nerve.
