  I have used Dragon 7, 8 and 9 and I really didn't find 9 being much better
than 8. I was quite disappointed as they are quite pricey.. I started out
with the very first Dragon for DOS and then I also had another Dragon before
Dragon 7, which was not professional and did not work very hands-free. When I
got a laptop and other computer that I use in bed, I needed professional for
hands-free
..

I have purchased my Dragon 8 and Dragon 9 through know-brainer.

I don't know of anybody else has had this problem, but when I try to turn on
Dragon 9, it will not come on with my voice ever, even though I keep training.
It is quite disgusting. Dragon 8 almost always turns on. It really is
irritating when you have somebody reboot your computer and you may have to
wait for it to finish rebooting, before they can turn on the microphone. I
haven't checked to come on. Has anybody else had this problem. It also seems
like Dragon 9 will close more than Dragon 8..
it also brings up the Dragon window which you have to click close when I say
reboot Dragon using KnowBrainer, you cannot click on close, before Dragon is
ready and the microphone is on. I have re-loaded the Dragon program to see it
that helped.

You can speak as quickly as you can, and it will pick most of what you say up,
if not all. I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 9 Professional. Good
stuff. I'm sure it's not cheap, but it's well worth it.

If you have some mobility and are able to type a little bit, I would
recommend going with the cheaper version from one of the local stores. If you
need entirely hands-free, then you might want to think about the professional,
but it is definitely expensive.

Ibots are not covered in Ohio because nobody seems to be able to show a
medical necessity for it. I don't think you can even get a peremobile in Ohio
using Medicaid. On the other end of the spectrum, they want you to prove why
you cannot use a Pride Jazzy or a Quicky. I understand Pride is working on a
tilt in space system and a recline, Maybe they will revive the Everest
Jennings name. (They tried to stick a paraplegic into a hopped up 4wheel
scooter over at the rehab center) I feel any upturn in Medicaid will have to
come from the low end products outperforming expectations. The space shuttle
works most of the time and it is built by the lowest bidders. I've always felt
the quickies were a low cost quality product. Anyone else got any feedback on
wheelchairs that Medicaid has funded or won't fund.
(You aren't suppose to say they won't pay for stuff unless they have been
rejected and no product is rejected solely because of price.) What BS!
Someone set me straight?
We spent 70 years spouting about how stupid Communists were with 5 year plans
and now we go out of our way to create a health care system that imitates an
economic
plan that failed for the exact same lack of ingenuity and practicality.
EOR (end of rant)

RE: [QUAD-L] Honda Odessey

2008-01-08 Thread Silas Shelburne
Quadius,

I just got a new TDX wheel chair, my old chair is a 2003 Invacare storm. It
was used very little because it wasn't made for a farm terrain, so I
purchased a 4x4 chair. The only thing wrong with the storm is the tilt
won't work, its probable something simple I never had it checked by a chair
repairman. If you ever need a part or if you need the chair your more than
welcome to have it, the only thing is its sip puff controlled.

It's almost embarrassing to say what type of chair I'm in. I am still using
my 1995 Invacare storm rear wheel drive with a Peachtree headrest.

Since I am going to have to be changing seating systems (currently use La
Bac) and driving mechanisms, would rather stay with a rear wheel drive if
possible.

Dan,
Dragon Dictate Naturally Speaking is all one program. If you are a proffesional
you might want the most expensive program. If you want the program for fun
surfing then dragon naturally speaking is fine. I like the Dragon 7 the best.
