I have never met a someone from Finland and therefore cannot truly comment on them, but I can tell you that as someone who spent almost 9 years in Germany, this feeling is not uncommon. John was also correct in mentioning there are several people here who have that sentiment. They believe in social Darwinism, until something happens to them. Things are really different over there and I definitely wouldn't try to immigrate until you have gone over there for a visit to see if you'll like it. If you have, then go for it. You will never be able to change some people's minds. Take care and good luck. Quadius I to had lived in Germany for three years. My dream was to one day return there, I loved it so much. After my spinal injury, like most of us destiny is often not ours to choose. What capacity were you there. Perhaps things have changed, but as you say to visit first is a good idea because as beautiful as everything is, Europe for the most part is hard to impossible to get around in a wheelchair. Fins are a hardy good bunch of people but my guess is that the average person does not come by a spinal injury often in a lifetime. [QUAD-L] Baclofen Pump?
Are there any on the List who have the Baclofen Pump? I have been corresponding with a lady who's son-in-law was just in an accident and paralyzed C/4/5. He has very bad spasms and pain and they want to get a Baclofen Pump and would like to talk to a few people who have been through it. Its not something you choose first but rather determine if you are a candidate for the pump. Once that is determined, then you can decide if you really want it.
