RE: [QUAD-L] Unidentified subject!

2011-04-26 Thread Dave Krehbiel
I am sorry to hear about your son's accident.

I was on a ventilator with high fevers following my accident, but
fortunately the fevers subsided after four or five months.

Clearly some facilities are much better than others. Would your insurance
allow you to move your son to another state with better facilities?

I'm curious... is your son on a ventilator? If he is on a ventilator, this
dramatically lowers your list of options.

I would also like to know: what is an M VA 4-10-10 ?

Unfortunately, there are some very nasty bugs which are spread in hospitals.
If the primary problems deal with infections and fevers, maybe the best
thing is to try to find the best doctor you can you could help you get these
infections under control.

I'm sorry to have any magic answers for you. But I am very glad that you
found this forum. This forum is the best resource which I have found with
the day-to-day issues and problems and complications related to
quadriplegia.

Take care,

Dave Krehbiel

Well, I'm new to the SCI club. My 19 yr. old son had a M VA 4-10-10 that
left him with a c 6-7. The prob is we have been sick from day 1. After 20
weeks in ICU 4 with rehab that we could not do because sick all the time. We
got home late Aug.of 2010 and been back to hospital 95% of the time. In the
last month we have been home 3-4 days.Well this past fri. we were at OU
hospital and they told me theres nothing rong with him other then drug
withdrows.

We went in this time as for all the past : 102.6 temp, vometing, sweating,
pain, UTI, not eatting . OU called back to tell me has staff again #3 for
that one.

I just don't know were to turn there is no place in ok. That I have found to
help him get better. He is going down fast !!!

Re: [QUAD-L] Spinal Cord Injury in Oklahoma

2011-04-26 Thread wheelchair
Motor Vehicle Accident April 10, 2010, is what I'm guessing. I also
agree that being in a hospital or regional rehab center like Craig Hospital,
that specializes in Spinal Cord Injuries would be better then a general
hospital.

Best Wishes
