I truly hope your primary doctor is aware of the situation. Cleaning the
area properly is most important. Changing your chucks often may help keep
the private area clean n dry too.

Best Wishes

Heed the warning signs. Have a daily Bowel Movement to make sure the
bowel is cleared. Are Duk's being used?

Re: [QUAD-L] Bowel tip

2013-12-14 Thread Aaron Mann
I've been on an every-other day regiment since rehab. Tips I can provide
would be:
1) use a good enema that has bisacodyl (this stimulates your bowels to
contract)
2) make certain you or your aide digitally check prior to inserting enema
3) it seems the further inside you can get the enema the better it works
(speculation here)
4) My bowel programs last 1 hour, I do manual checks at 30 and 45 minutes.
I make certain to have my aide thoroughly check for remaining feces.
5) The healthier you eat, the more regular you will be.
6) Medicines affect your movement. Since I've been taking Hydrocodone 3
years ago, I've had zero accidents because it slows down the peristalsis
(squeeze/release of the intestines). Downside is that I must drink at
least 64oz of water a day or deal with bad constipation.

Good luck, remember that each of us must find our own routine.
 Unfortunately it's not one-size-fits-all.

Try bag balm or udder balm, I have issues with sweating and when   the hairy
twins and surrounding area get red and raw it helps clear it up.

In addition to cleaning as thoroughly as you can stand. Have your Dr
prescribe Silvadene Cream. This is a topical anti-bacterial for treating
wounds, but works wonders on rashes.

I have this too. My redness extends back from my testicles to my anus. We
(my nurses and I)are starting with a process of elimination.

1. I have been putting a product called Askafor on some scrapes I have on my
butt due to transfers. I'm stopping that.

2. I am doing more pressure relief. I know my backside gets red after a
bowel program. This is due to trying to pushing out stool. Having a number
of programs in a row and pushing down while on my commode chair could be the
cause.

3. I had 6 teeth removed recently. My diet has changed to soft foods while
my gums heal. I know I'm not getting enough protein. So I'll start on
protein shakes immediately.

You may want to look at the side of facts of what ever antibiotic you are
using.

BTW: I am assuming that you are a caregiver and not a guy named Nancy with
testicles.

[QUAD-L] More on Snow...

2013-12-14 Thread Nan
We currently have around 8 here in western NY.  I live in the Hamlet of
Honeoye which is on one of the smaller Finger Lakes and the town next door is
Bristol.  How do I handle this weather?  I hibernate!  I have my space heater
on my desk and my hairdryer by my tipping spot and a nice window to watch all
the pretty white stuff fall.  Would I move somewhere warmer?  You bettcha!
But, I get great benefits here...

Here is our local forecast:

Rochester
16°
22° | 17°
* Periods of snow, accumulating 6 to 10 inches in the Rochester area by
daybreak Sunday, with locally higher tallies in the Finger Lakes and Bristol
Hills.

Thank goodness for my omega trac, it can plow through almost anything. We
usually shovel all but an inch or so, then I can go anywhere. It’s watching out
for the other crazy drivers that is nerve wracking. JIt’s above freezing and
the sun is shining! The icicles are 5 feet long. A great day Joan

We have 8 so far and tomorrow we're going to get freezing rain. I sleep
without any heat because I get to hot otherwise. The temputure in our place, at
night, gets down to 65° During the day we only have the heat up to 72°

I subscribed to this list way back in the winter of 1999 right after I came
back from rehab. It was very helpful. I hope the list is as good as I
remember. Its been quite a ride since then. I'm trying to start a
business selling a wheelchair joystick handle I developed. I was wondering
if you guys could take a look at my website and facebook page. I plan on
starting on selling in the next few weeks.
