Hi Dave,

Thank you for the information about the digital books, I had never heard of.
. I hope they add Kansas soon. I guess our state is slow. Ha ha

I'm glad you're keeping a positive attitude, but you strike me as a person
that has a positive attitude anyway.

You will heal in time sometimes it just seems like much longer, when we are
in bed.

Keep your faith.
Dana

Hi Dana,

I'm doing really well, but I know that it's important for me to stay in a
positive mod and be patient. I will be getting the wound vac next week so
that
should help.

This is what States the Unabridged Libraries cover now, but they may add
more later.

Have you tried contacting the National Library Service for the Blind and
Physically Handicapped (NLS), a Division of the Library of Congress? They are
who connected me to the Unabridged Libraries. They are at:

If you can't find a place to read try going to LibriVox Librariy. They
have a good selection of books. _http://librivox.org/newcatalog/_

I am so sorry about your abscess and having to be down. You're always so
encouraging and helpful. I know how hard it is to be down as two years ago I
was down for six months for a sore where the underwear goes or diaper maybe an
inch or so up on the left side so I had to stay on my right side most of the
time. I would have gone crazy without my computer in my bed. The computer
caused when the power cord got too hot as it was burning out and it was under
my rear. What is the prediction on how long it will be.

I have never read books on my computer, says there was a post about web
sites for that, that I have not checked out. I hope I can find again on my
computer.

I'll be thinking a you and pray for it to heal as quickly as possible.

Hi Wheels,

The doctor said we'll start the wound-vac next week. Right now he wants the
wound to heal some before we start the WV. I am feeling good about the
progress so far, and am staying in a positive spirit and expect to continue to
improve. Thanks to everyone that have sent good wishes and prayers. I am a
true believer in positive moods and healing. Stay strong.

[QUAD-L] Home Again -- Part Two

2007-02-26 Thread David K. Kelmer
Hi People,

This is a short note to tell you the rest of the story that happened to me
after getting home from the hospital in early Feb..

If you think there is a problem with your body, never let a Doctor make you
change your intuition about it. After getting A+ on all of my yearly tests, I
felt the Doctors were still missing something, so I insisted on a second run of
tests. I had that incident in Aug., '06 that put me in ICU for an UTI (very
uncommon for me), so I wanted to be sure about my feelings. I've been a
Quadriplegic 31 years and my intuition was right. They found what they had
thought was scar tissue from the of right leg and partial hip removal to be an
abscessed pocket of infection. They did surgery through my back near about
where the coccyx bone is and cleaned it all out. The Surgeon said if the
abscess had burst, it would have spread through my body and I would have most
likely have been dead within days. I'm in the process of getting the wound to
heal from the inside out, which means a lot of dressing changes and staying off
