Re: [QUAD-L] Sick/upper respiratory
I sure hope you get better from the upper respiratory crud. Believe it or not, every time I thought I was finally over it, I kept contracting some of the symptoms. Thankfully my respiratory system has been functioning well for over two weeks (knock on wood) and there has been no return of the fluid in my lungs. Simple things are what doomed me. I thought I had successfully disinfected everything, but discovered the ventilator (which I used simply to help inflate my lungs with the nebulizer) needed to have the tubing changed as well as the nebulizer. My sip-n-puff needed to have the outside as well has the inside thoroughly cleaned with a bleach water solution. All of my mouth stick's needed to be sanitized. Once I got this all accomplished, I began to feel much better pretty quickly. Now I just need to get back into my groove. Hi Q, When the lungs have mucus in them, taking an expectant (Guaifenesin) helps. I've heard that Mucinex is good, but I use Robitussin Expectorant Syrup (Guaifenesin Syrup, USP). Ask your doctor for a B12 shot to boost your energy! With Love, CtrlAltDel aka Dave C4/5 Complete - 30 Years Post Texas, USA B. I sincerely hope nobody on this list or for that matter no other paralyzed individuals get this particular virus. Not only is it persistent, it will attack over and over again. I am almost back, but I am still having to take it easy I love more than I thought I would by now. As for the links to my blogs, they are always accessible on MSN spaces. Just search for Quadius. Here is the link: http://spaces.msn.com/quadius/ I cannot wait to get back to posting on a normal basis. Unfortunately, I am 370 behind, with little hope of catching up right now. Re: [QUAD-L] Sick
Hi Linda and Dan, it is so discouraging and monotonous to be fighting to breathe because of all the mucus. I always take mucinex and extra vitamin C. A friend of mine is using using Zicam, it comes in spray now or in a form you let dissolve in your mouth. I have used a few times when they had the medication on a Q-tip like thing. I hope it comes to an end shortly so you can get back to your normal routine. It can wear you out choking and coughing. My thoughts are with you. Dana ** AOL now offers free email to everyone. Re: [QUAD-L] Sick
hey i had an upper resp. infection recently as well. i am so thankful it didn't get too far into my lungs. it was hard enough coughing everything up w/out it being in my lungs. coughing is a bitch as a quad! i had my infection for well over a month -- the longest i've ever been sick! what did u do to get rid of yours? i tried sudafed, mucinex, saline drops, rest... nothing seemed to help. do u have trouble coughing? i had to have people help do 'assist coughs' a few times b/c i couldn't get the mucus to come up. so frustrating! thank goodness we shook that! =jessica On Mar 6, 2007, at 3:23 PM, B.
