Re: [QUAD-L] SHORTS, SWiMMIMG Bellybags
I forgot to mention in my method that I also have my catheter to going up hill slightly to exit my pants. That way I don't need to modify the trousers I am wearing, but I need to make sure they are loose enough to afford good drainage. Quadius On 7/14/07, Corie Jones [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have been wearing shorts and Capri's since my injury (nearly 14 years ago). The first 6 1/2 years I was cathed and had snaps put in the seam of my shorts/pants to make it easier to cath and then in 2000 I had the supra pubic surgery and started using a 32 oz. regular leg bag wearing it across my belly inside my shorts/pants. So in other words, I don't use the extension tubing to wear the bag down by my leg. The bag is just connected to my catheter and lays across my stomach inside my pants and shorts. I try to wear elastic stretch pants and shorts so the bag has room to fill up. It never fills up all the way when I'm out and about because I empty it before I go out and then empty it when I get home. And if I need to I can empty it into a toilet in a accessible bathroom if I'm out and about and it gets too full. I purchased the belly bag you guys are talking about, but did not like it because it actually was a lot more poochy (if that's a word, lol) and was like a fanny pack inside my pants and actually made my quad gut look even bigger. So, for me the regular leg bag works fine as a belly bag across my stomach and I do not have any problems with it, with the tube in a loop, which goes a little uphill to drain into the bag. The only time I've had problems with it is when the tube is bent and is not in a good loop for the urine to flow through easily. So those of you who want to try wearing shorts might want to try a regular leg bag before purchasing the belly bag. It does make the belly look a little bit bigger when it fills up some, but I think it's worth it to be able to wear shorts and Capri pants. Re: [QUAD-L] SHORTS, SWiMMIMG Bellybags
Cori, I was going to order a daily bag, just to try it out. I am so glad you offered this suggestion first. This way I can try a belly bed out, without purchasing anything new. I only have one question. Was the elastic in your shorts/Capri. The only thing that held the bag up or do to use something else to fasten it onto your body Thanks again for the suggestion. Re: [QUAD-L] SHORTS
I wear a large nightbag alwaysI just hang it on the side of my chair and kinda cover it and help hold it in place with a leather carry tote type bag that I store my ID and stuff in, the leather bag is much smaller but I go shopping and to restaurants or anywhere.I wear shorts toono-one has ever even asked about it in 10 years except a few curious young kids .I always turn the bag in so no one can see the urine side only the white bag backside. Me and my wife figure why hide it --it is our way of life. We change the bag every 2 weeks but use the supra pubic catheter 1 full month before change.
