[Quantum Owners] adding fuel out let to bottom of Xtreme tank

2014-10-27 Thread Nigel Plant
Sorry had missed this post. The original tank as supplied by Q hsd the oitlet
at the bottom, but for some reason I cant remember, I beleve it was a late
addition by Q, when they started the zetec and injection route. The inside of
the tank has a kind of swirl baffle system, to attempt to prevent the outlet
becoming fuelless! However this didnt work well on mine and some others that I
know of. On left hand corners on the track or once going onto the M27, with
guel tank less than half full, the engine would die through fuel starvation.
I looked at putting a swirl pot on, but couldnt find any plce to put one. I
eventually welded an aux catch tank under the existing outlet together with
additional feed holes to cover all corners! I also kmow Q did a mod to another
owners car which was simpler and I didnt think as good, but I do know it is
working fine.
I have photos that I can send you and more details if you are interested or
better still can have a chat if you are at curborough.

Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: Extreme fuel pump

2014-10-27 Thread Nigel Plant
Haven't been able to check the car yet but have checked the Zetec build
manual and Omex wiri8ng diagram.
Connector pin 3 (blue wire) of the Omex 500 is an aux used for a relay
powering the fuel pump, coil pack, injectors and lambda. There is a wiring
diagram for this in the Zetc/ Omex supplement. Can scan and send if you
wish.

On a separate note, I see your e mail address 'via gelia' this was the
local name given to the road from Newhaven to Cromford, near where I grew
up in Buxton. Is there a connection!
Nigel

Re: [Quantum Owners] adding fuel out let to bottom of Xtreme tank

2014-10-27 Thread Chris Young
thanks Nigel, friad Curborough at the moment would just be a dream! the
car is off the road and I couldn't really justify the time away from home
due to my young kids etc.

thus while I can't really be driving the car, it is having project time
instead in the eves.

If you do have a pic or two, that could be really helpful, It sounds like
what I was thinking of having done, just the chap who I would ask to weld
it for me reckoned it might buckle the tank when I discussed it before.)

(really with the v8, I could do with a bigger tank, period! I am planning
to be on the skcc euro trip next may but even when I am running on the bike
TBs and efi I might be running out before a petrol station!)

Re: [Quantum Owners] Re: Extreme fuel pump

2014-10-27 Thread Jim Hearne
Brown (Earth) and Black/Red (Supply) are Fords standard wire colours for the
fuel pump on a donor Sierra.
Maybe somebody used the Ford fuel pump connector and some of the wiring for
the fuel pump.

Yes I have the build manual but there is no ref to fuel pump relay. It does
mention fuel pump wiring on the rear connection section but the colours are
not the same? Man says white/purple and black earth. Wires to my pump are
brown and black/red? There is no amendment page in my manual?
