[Quantum Owners] Re: ST170 in a saloon
I did a little more research and found the same sump & pickup is used across all zetec e engines, the pickup is in the middle, so assuming the 8 degree slope is right and the sump is 200mm wide then bringing the engine level would put the pickup pipe 14mm deeper into the oil (if my maths are correct; they should be i used an online calculator!). So the end result is whatever else is wrong with the engine it's not the oil pickup. It also means (if the 8 degrees is right) the dipstick needs recalibrating or the dipstick tube needs changing. Does that all make sense or have i slipped up somewhre? RE: [Quantum Owners] Re: ST170 in a saloon
That does sound pretty serious – I can almost hear it from here! Martin Sent from Mail for Windows 10 From: russ price Sent: 28 October 2019 18:27 To: Quantum Owners Group Subject: [Quantum Owners] Re: ST170 in a saloon Jim. The angle isn't a lot, i'm fairly sure i've heard a figure of 8 degrees forward mentioned, i think it was just to allow the bonnet to make a more pleasing shape. I can't find any confirmation online so it's entirely possible i've got it all wrong. I'm in west wales by the way. Martin Fairly sure it's a genuine loss of pressure, the oil warning light comes on and a few seconds later the engine starts to make a clattery noise.I knew it had this problem and had been driven, with warning light on and making a noise, for a few miles when i bought it.
