It is possible those are different issues, but see

that is fine, don't worry. The templates (if you have a std install)
will fetch their updates through sys-whonix in a miraculous way (see
here https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/software-update-vm/#updates-proxy ),
even if there is no NetVM for them. Just run dnf update and then dnf
install whatsoever and see what happens :) Simply Enjoy great software.

[qubes-users] Fedora-29 update does not work

2019-03-19 Thread Claudio Chinicz

Hi All,

I'm getting notification that I need to update Fedora-29 (Qubes 4.0.1),
I do it but it keeps asking to update.

On Qubes manager all VMs based on Fedora-29 template show they need to
restart because I've updated Fedora-29, although it keeps asking to update.

I've even updated it manaully (opened terminal and issued sudo dnf
update/upgrade) and it seems updated, but still Qubes thinks it needs to
update.

Any insights?

Thanks,

Claudio Chinicz

Re: [qubes-users] Driver for usb wifi MT7610U

2019-03-19 Thread 'Christophe' via qubes-users
Hi, yes the error in the VM is about bad usb cable when I use the 4.20 kernel.

[ 50.803667] cfg80211: Loading compiled-in X.509 certificates for regulatory
database
[ 50.840384] cfg80211: Loaded X.509 cert 'sforshee: 00b28ddf47aef9cea7'
[ 51.761645] usb usb1-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
[ 54.425794] mt76x0u: probe of 1-1:1.0 failed with error -110

It seems that the problem is specific to kernel 4.20 according this bug report
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202243

There seem to be a patch, but it's still not clear for me how to apply it. They
also say it's working fine with 4.19 kernel.

I'm trying to install the 4.19 kernel, but there seem to still be some wrong
repo config on my system, when I run 'sudo qubes-dom0-update
kernel-latest-devel-4.19.2-3.pvops.qubes.x86_64' the package is downloaded but
then it returns an Error : Unable to find a match.

Best regards,

Christophe

Re: [qubes-users] Qubes 4.0.1 and Ryzen APU - How to update kernel?

Hi,

'unstable' repo is not used currently. Please use 'current-testing'
which have 4.19+ latest LTS kernels. You can also install
'kernel-latest' which is mainline stable kernel.

So you can do:

    sudo qubes-dom0-update --enablerepo=qubes-dom0-current-testing
kernel kernel-qubes-vm

Best,

Frédéric

[qubes-users] Qubes 4.0.1 and Ryzen APU - How to update kernel?

2019-03-19 Thread mittendorf
I tried to install Qubes 4.0.1 on a different system and update it, but
its still 4.14-XXX kernel and not booting with Ryzen 2200G APU. Even
sudo qubes-dom0-update --enablerepo=qubes-dom0-unstable kernel
kernel-qubes-vm

does not install a newer Kernel, probably because it tries to find an
update in the fedora 25 repository. What can Ryzen APU user do?
