Re: [qubes-users] Installation problems?

2016-10-06 Thread Jodie
I managed to install by redownloading the ISO, repeating all the steps
(verifying, burning, etc). On the second (!) attempt of trying to install using
the same flash drive, it succeeded. The first time, it gave me some other error.

So...trying the same thing multiple times may not be insanity after all?

[qubes-users] Unable to change timezone?

2016-12-24 Thread Jodie
Hi all,

I seem to be unable to change the time zone. The option to set date and time
automatically is greyed out. When I select the time zone tab of the date and
time settings module and try to change the time zone to where I currently am
right now, I get multiple pop up windows, each with an OK button in the corner.
The first one states "Unable to change NTP settings", the second states "Unable
to set current time", and the last says "Unable to set timezone".

Anyone have any ideas of where to start?

Jodie

Re: [qubes-users] Unable to change timezone?

2016-12-25 Thread Jodie
That's what I figured the issue was, but I am indeed attempting to change
dom0's settings from within dom0. I'm attempting to change time zone in the
date and time settings module in the
GUI.

This is after a fresh update to 3.2 and reboot.

(Apologies about that. This is the first group I've seen that does these bottom
posts)

I have already tried that, and it fails with "Failed to set time zone: Unit
systemd-timedated.service is masked".

No, I didn't. But that gives me a few avenues to explore. Thanks!

Okay, so this is a workaround. What I ended up doing was symlinking (manually)
/usr/share/zoneinfo/myrelevanttimezone to /etc/localtime.

After that, because it still bothered me that it didn't work for me as it did
other people. I unmasked the systemd-timedated.service with the command:

systemctl unmask systemd-timedated.service

Now, it works as John described. I'm not sure why it was masked, though.
Perhaps fodder for a future enquiry.

Although I am glad that I have the right time zone now. :^)

[qubes-users] Installation problems?

2016-09-08 Thread Jodie
Hi all,

I've been trying to install Qubes on a Thinkpad T430. As far as I can tell,
support for this should be good.

I get past the configuration window, but the install is currently failing on
the installation of the
qubes-template-fedora-23 package, with this error message:

"The following error occurred while installing. This is a fatal error and
installation will be aborted.

getPackage error: failure:
Packages/q/qubes-template-fedora-23-3.0.5-201603081705.noarch.rpm from
anaconda: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try."

Any ideas on how to debug this?

Jodie

I used the "Test media and install option" when booting. That succeeded.

In addition to this, when selecting the installation source, I went for the
"Verify" option (the one right next to the detected installation media option).
This also succeeded.

Anything else I can do?

I've already done that, but I can redo that as well.

Question out of curiosity: wouldn't the test media verification fail if the ISO

Version 3.1. What's annoying me is that I can't figure out why this is
happening. I even have a terrible photo of the install error if you want to see
it.

I'm inclined to think that I'm doing something wrong, but can't tell what it is
