Re: [R] Unable to start R due to error with tempdir()
Fatal error: cannot find unused tempdir names I am having the same problem as Michael Epstein (100% of the time) even after clearing out all the Rtmp* files from the temporary directory. I have tried reinstalling R, to no avail. Is there some profile setting that is trying to create temp directories in an inaccessible place? I had to guess where the tempdir was using a colleague's machine. In his case it seems to be in /documents and settings/userid/local/temp and I cleared out the corresponding directory on my machine. Re: [R] Unable to start R due to error with tempdir()
Take a look at your temporary dir, and see if you can clear it out. ?tempdir tells you where it is. On Mon, 28 Jun 2004, Michael Epstein wrote: Hello, I run R 1.9.1 on a Windows XP machine. Looking at the help-manual description of tempdir didn't provide me with any obvious clues to the problem. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling R 1.9.1, but this was of no help to the problem either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Not R specific but that kind of error is quite often related to a lack of hard drive space. Mark Fowle --- Navicom Inc. Are you implying that I should delete all the Rtmp* directories in my temporary dir? Thanks much.
