Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Alarm only works when connected to mysqueezebox?

2009-10-29 Thread aobr31569

Having checked my server, the timezone was set to UTC-6 for some reason,
have now set to GMT and its all working, thanks.

I simply assumed the timezone on the device would overide whatever the
server was saying, so didnt bother to check that. Since changing it my
radio and duet now show the same time, where as before they were
different by 8 minutes, which was rather strange.

My Radio was giving me some network fits lately, still unsure why.
If you haven't tried already, remove any/all WiFi security features
temporarily and try connecting Radio.

- do broadcast SSID
- no WEP or WPA
- no MAC filtering

[SlimDevices: Radio] wireless disconnect after being idle

2009-10-29 Thread eclips

hi, i just bought the squeezebox radio. I already have a squeezebox
classic pluged on my router. The radio uses wireless network to get data
from home server.
1 - The connection works fine when i start the radio (long push on the
power bouton then short push to switch it on).
2 - I push the power bouton to put it in idle state (showing date and
time), and i push on power bouton again but wireless isn't working
anymore.
I have to do #1 to make it work again.

I found the option to adjust it when playing but nothing to reduce the

If using your local server computer:
SBS Settings Player Display Idle Brightness
Or if using MySB.com:
Players Boom Display Idle Brightness

this only works for squeezebox classic, there is no such option on

Yup, that's the problem I was having with Radio. All other devices (3
computers, AVR, PS3, 3 other SB players) connected fine.
Radio simply refused to connect, wired or WiFi. Touch was being
finicky as well, but it did connect.
How Radio finally corrected itself I cannot say, it just did.

My Radio was seeing my WiFi network though, it just would not connect.
Only thing I can suggest is to keep backing all of the way out (back to
the initial setup screen) so that the Radio displays a refreshed
available WiFi list.

on the SB3 and Boom, the original IR remote allowed the number buttons
to be pressed to jump to letters, i.e. pressing 5 twice took you to

This functionality is not present on the Radio and instead the numeric

Would it be possible to make this an option:-

2. Numeric Remote Buttons always act as 'jump to letter'
3. Numeric Remote Buttons are context sensitive

Option 3 should mean working as option 2 if scrolling a list and as

Option 2 means there is no functionality to the numeric remote buttons
unless you are in a list (which I think is the standard SB3
functionality).

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Wrong item plays

I suspect it is actually a bug of some sort.

Because I have noticed that the further I scroll don, the further the
played item is from the intended one.

That is, if I go to my B items, select and click, it plays the item
before the one I have selected. But if I go to my T items then it plays
the item four or five before the one I chose.

But it does help me to know that I am not alone in having this problem.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Radio frustrations

2009-10-29 Thread danco

At the moment my Radio is only showing Now Playing, My Music and
Settings.

Nothing else, no Internet Radio, no My Apps, etc.

Diagnostics reports

mysqueezebox.com at 89.202.121.131. Ping and TCP ok and the Radio is
registered.

I would suspect a failed sever at mysqueezebox.com,except that when I
pointed my SB2 to mysqueezebox.com it played fine. But I suppose that
just because the two go through the same router that does not mean that
they connect to the same machine at mysqueezebox.com.

In addition, the Radio will currently not connect to my local
Squeezebox Server. This happened before, and when restarting the
computer, resetting the Radio to factory setting did not work, I
ultimately got connectivity back by restoring my machine from a bootable
backup of a day or so earlier. Here the Ping and TCP report Not
Connected. I don't think it can be a firewall issue, as my SB2 connects
fine to my local SBS. The fact that an earlier backup restored
connection my SBS does suggest a software issue on my computer, but I
have no idea what it can be.

I have the Radio wired, but have tried both a wired and wireless
connection, and both have the problem.

I am using Mac OS 10.6.2.

[SlimDevices: Radio] BBC on SB Radio

2009-10-29 Thread colantra

I was thinking of buying a SB Radio, but I'm starting to be concerned
that I won't be able to listen to any of the BBCstations live - is this
the case?

Reason for asking is that I have upgraded server to 7.4.1 and installed
Squeezeplay Beta on my PC and can't get the BBC stations to play. I've
tried installing the iPlayer plug in and can listen to the recorded
programmes, but nothing live.

I want to use the radio as an alarm with BBC as the waking channel, is
this possible am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] BBC on SB Radio

2009-10-29 Thread bpa

The BBC live stations are available on WMA streams for both UK and non
UK users. These stations can be played natively on SB3, Boom,
Transporter, SB Radio and Touch so there is no need for a server to be
running.

The BBCiPlayer plugin is used for BBC Listen Again and to get the
better quality Flash/AAC streams which are not supported natively on the
players.

I think the soft players such as Squeezeplay on PC cannot play WMA
natively and so need server support. This support is standard on Windows
based servers but has to be added for Linux, OSX and many NAS based
servers.

So there is no problem playing BBC live stations on SB players.

When using an internet station as an alarm sometime network connections
are not made for various reasons and so depending on station and network
there is a possibility that the station will not play and the alarm
backup should be used instead.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Major Radio and Router problems

2009-10-29 Thread danco

After a long call to a Logitech support person, I finally got told that
the Squeezebox Radio is incompatible with my router, a Netgear DG834G
(v3). And that this was why my Radio works for a while and then drops
off from connection to my Squeezebox Server (see my posts in other
threads). So far I have had no problems with connection to
mysqueezebox.com, other than one dropout that got resolved in a few
hours and was probably due to connection to a server that was not
currently working.

He promised to send me a link that refers to this incompatibility. I
will report further when I get the link.

But if he is correct, I would warn buyers and potential buyers that
there may be this kind of incompatibility.

And, as regards Logitech themselves, there are two things to say. One
is that a list of currently supported routers needs to be prominently
available if there are router issues. In fact not giving such a list
seems to me to amount to sharp practice.

The other is that I need to know that this is an issue being addressed.
I seem to remember there were similar issues with the original (or
later) Squeezeboxes, which ultimately got solved after various firmware
updates.

At this point, and assuming that he was correct, I have three
possibilities to consider. To replace the router which I don't
particularly want to do, seeing that it is otherwise working fine. To
return the Radio as unfit for its purpose (given that no warning about
compatibility with routers was ever provided), which again I don't
particularly want to do.

Or to keep the Radio and wait for the firmware to be updated.I would be
quite prepared to do that provided the matter is being dealt with. I
appreciate that it may take some time for a solution to be obtained.

That sounds bogus to me: if you can maintain a connection to
MySqueezebox.com via wireless, then your Wifi between the radio and the
router is fine.

If the connection drops only on local playback, then you should look at
other things (is SBS server crashing? is the server connected via
wireless as well, effectively doubling the bandwith required?)

Are you in the US or abroad? US support has always been excellent...
Logitech proper support has been somewhat iffy it seems, certainly not
on par at all with the support here.

I'm in the UK, but phoned US support (as I get free phone calls to the
US).

Server is fine, and has a wired connection with router. Radio I've
tried both wired and wireless. Wireless connection to my Squeezebox 2 is
fine.

Diagnostics on the Radio report Can't Ping. And I suppose it is
possible that the Netgear dislikes pings on the local network.

I felt it was a touch bogus myself, but he promised to send me a link
to a (presumably internal) page confirming that. And we do know there
were router issues with the original Squeezeboxes.

I'm inclined to think something on my Mac (running 10.6.1) got changed
without my knowledge, as I don't seem to have any problem connecting
when I boot from a backup drive that was last backed up a few days ago.
But admittedly I only try that connection for a few minutes and then I
reboot to my main drive.
