An alternative is to use a hotspot feature if your computer or laptop
has the capability. Log into to the network using the computer and
accepting the agreement. Then turn-on the hotspot on the computer and
connect the Radio to the hotspot. Same concept as Michael describes.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WiFi connection unstable/lost on three Radios

2022-04-13 Thread Locutus1967

Hi folks, I know this is a long thread but wanted to share my
experiences with my SB Radio losing wifi connection. I tried everything
in this thread: edit the WLAN file, moving to a dedicated 2.4 G network,
turning off beam forming on my mesh, even the faraday cage…nothing
worked until I did something a few days out of pure chance.

My home network setup is very simple and newbie alert…I don’t know much
about home networking so apologies in advance if I say anything dumb. I
have a modem/router on my Cable provider (I live in Canada), but a year
ago I purchased a TP-Link Mesh system with 3 Access Point Pucks that I
have placed around the house. The TP-Link is wired to the Router and I
have set it up in Router Model and not AP mode. So basically my
Modem/Router is really a pass through to my mesh. All of my devices are
on the mesh network. On the SB side my LMS is running on my QNAP NAS
(wired) my Touch is Wired and my Boom and Radio are Wireless (both on
the 2.4 band of the mesh). The Radio would connect then drop after a
few hours…like everyone else was experiencing.

I was recently reading up on how to setup a VPN server on my NAS so I
could connect to my home network from outside the house and I learned
all about Port Forwarding (which I need to setup both on the main Router
and my TP-Link). I never knew what a Port Forward was until I started
reading up on this. When I opened up my Admin page for the modem/router
(not the mesh…the TP link has such a basic config options, more on that
at another time) I see several pages of Port Forwards that were setup,
none of which were added by me. I imagine there were apps that were
adding Port Forwards to my router without my knowledge. So I started
removing all of the port forwards that were not forwarding to my mesh
network (I left those since I was not sure if they were still needed).
After removing all of these forward rules my SB Radio no longer drops
the wifi connection, it has now been stable for several days.

I don’t think I understand how a port forward on my router can have this
impact but I wanted to share my experiences in case it can help anyone
else. Apologies for the long post!

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Logitech Squeezebox Radio

2022-04-13 Thread Redrum

@Jim1348~

I hope you are able to connect to your work network via wifi or LAN, but
if not, all is not completely lost. The radio has a Line In socket for
mini jack, so you could cable it to a sound card on your PC/Mac or any
other device.

Disclaimer - I have never tried this, so I don't know what the display
would be (clock?) and what functions work (volume?)

Jim
