I'm very curious how y'all can see out from under those long bills. When I pull a cap down snugly enough to keep it on my head (I do have thick and more than shoulder length hair in a pony tail, so my hats have to be firmly in place) the bill blocks my vision unless I am sitting bolt upright. Even on the hoods it gets in the way, and this is true even of ordinary cycling caps with shorter brims. I have very short, 4 cm brims on my caps, which are either custom made or altered. So, do you sit bolt upright, or do your caps balance on the tops of your heads? No, my forehead is not 1/2 high. When I lived in the DC area, College Park Bikes in Maryland was one of my favorite bike shops. You can take the Metro out there from DC. It's sister shop, Mount Airy Bicycles, is also neat, but is a bit further from DC, and unless Metro lines have been extended, Mount Airy Bicycles is not accessible on Metro. A couple of other nice shops that are not quite as Rivish are City Bikes in Adams-Morgan and Bicycle Pro Shop in Georgetown. Enjoy the viist. [RBW] My First Longish Ride on the Saluki
It was a gorgeous day in Seattle, and I got out for my first longish ride on my Saluki, the 50+ mile Lake Washington Loop. I LOVE this bike! A few thoughts: Everything everyone says about the Rivendell Ride is true. The bike feels great--smooth, tracks well, turns, climbs and descends just like I want it to. The Pari-Motos are superb. I'm very happy with my Shimergo drivetrain (Campy Daytona 10-speed brifters, Dura-Ace 7800/7803 derailleurs.) Managed up the 3.3 mile Juanita Hill with the 12-28T cassette, but will still probably fit a Cyclotourist 14-34, along with changing the rear derailleur to a XTR long cage until I get more fit. The Berthoud saddle was very comfortable, for having all of 70 miles on it so far. Here are a few pics from the ride: http://www.flickr.com/photos/robharrison/sets/72157624087848543/ . And here are a few pics from my *very* first ride, along with info about the current build: http://www.flickr.com/photos/robharrison/sets/72157624011191725/ I should mention the provenance. The serial number of the bike is SA01. John Ferguson originally built up the bike. I bought it from Ron. :) Other stuff still to come: Berthoud composite fenders and a handlebar bag of some sort. A Nitto Jaguar seatpost. Pondering a set of Frog pedals. (Heresy I know!) An EDelux light to replace the E6. I'm pleased as punch with my new bike. Rob in Seattle -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Have a look: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36397...@n06/sets/72157615351530151/ Ron Blumenthal bought it from John, and made a few changes: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14427...@n04/4404261756/in/set-721576235... . That IS funny! Who has the other one? I've been eyeing the Sogn. Too bad they don't make them any more. Cool bike. Rob On Jun 5, 2010, at 9:24 PM, rcnute wrote: It was a great day. [RBW] Re: My First Longish Ride on the Saluki
I really like pari motos on my Saluki. Great ride shots, I was in Seattle a few weeks ago and enjoyed biking the Burke Gilman. I was on my Surley long haul trucker, though. [RBW] Re: Pari-Moto Ride Report
I have ridden my pari motos on gravel paved roads. The pari motos are fast and handle well. I think they live up to the promotion. On Jun 5, 4:06 pm, Bruce fullylug...@yahoo.com wrote: Took the P-Ms out for a second Metric over some very rough roads in addition to smoother ones. Rode it over gravel as well. No flats, very comfy, got approving comments from my skinnier tired companions. Just as fast as my times 5 years ago on a whippet thin frame with skimpy rubber. And lots more comfortable. I ran them at 65 PSI. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. To post to this group, send email to rbw-owners-bu...@googlegroups.com.
