[RBW] wtt, 63 ahh for a 61 ahh

I know its a long shot, but seeing if anyone wants to trade a one year old, 
one owner 63cm AHH frameset for a 61.  bike has been ridden, but is in nice 
shape with a couple of chips.  i know its a long shot, but if this doesn't 
happen the frame will be for sale, or the whole bike.

[RBW] Fender Choice

Hey All -

Poked around with search and couldn't find anything.

I am about to get my Sam.  It's a 64 cm.  I am getting the Dureme 40's.  

I wanted to get the hammered honjo fenders, but am now thinking that they 
won't fit.  What do you guys think?  Anyone have the same/similar setup on a 
Sam that can comment on fit issues?  Suggestions?

Regarding the wheel question:

I respaced a 130 wheel to use on my Hilsen.  Didn't even replace the axle.
It just sits a little inside the dropouts with plenty o' meat left over (and
if you poke around Sheldon's bikes, he talks about using a QR setup with an
axle flush to the nut, so he could achieve some minor tensioning corrections
on a singlespeed/vertical dropout setup).

You really just need 5 mm total of washers (mine was done with two x 2 mm
and I figured that was close enough.)

Google usually maintains overlap for a while.  It seems like they are
looking at August before some of the informational pages (which they made
static at the beginning of the year) will go away.

I would expect that may be the point at which they migrate away from the old

No connection to me, accept that I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it were a 
little smaller.  Search craigslist Eureka for Rivendell Romulus and you'll 
find a canti-Rom complete bike for $1000.  The seller says it's 24 c-to-c, 
making it a 62cm?

Riv's measurements are C-T, so this would be the 63 cm. Let's say the difference between C-C and C-T were 1.5 cm. (That's just an estimate without actually looking at a frame).

63 cm C-T would become 61.5 cm C-C, which would be 24.2" after converting. So even if I'm wrong on the 1.5 cm part, that's likely the size.

 is perfect [prefer it over 9], but am probably leaning more toward a
 cassette just because quality freewheels are getting harder to find.  The
 problem that I'm having is that it's harder to find 135 mm hubs that meet
 these requirements than 130 mm hubs, as 135 mm stuff is usually MTB oriented
 and more colorful (usually anodized).  So, I'm starting to think about maybe
 getting a set of road hubs and buying a new axle and respacing it... anybody

too big for you, for SUPER cheap!  I have this 27 frame Fuji leftover from 
the bike swap I helped run as a fundraiser for my kids' elementary school.  
$80 + shipping!  Lugs!  Steel!  Two chainrings like a QB!  A choice of cogs 
that work like a QB!  It's closer to a 69cm than a 68cm (27 = 68.58cm).

Yeah, all you need is a 135 mm axle and some spacers.  I moved a 7
speed from a 130mm bike to a 135mm Riv too.  You will need to redish
the wheel a little unless you are starting from scratch.  Easy.

Some very tall frames from that era are not so long. I have a
Centurion from about 1983 in my rafters that I remember as being a
62/56. I called it a hunchy frame.

Congrats, Rex.  A fine ride like a Hilsen deserves a fine set of
wheels... That makes all the difference (in my opinion)...  I splurged
a bit on a 7-speed freewheel Phil Wood hub on my Bomba (not too
pricey) and am so glad I did.
I say beg, borrow or steal whatever you need to get the wheels YOU
want... no compromise.  You'll thank yourself

 set of Rivy hubs approach the the amount that I was hoping to spend on the
 entire wheelset!  I considered the VO Grand Cru hubs, which are a bit
 cheaper, but they don't have the 32 spoke hubs that I wanted (I like the
 look of 32 spoke hubs, and I'm a lightweight rider for my height, I have a
 touring bike for the heavy loaded stuff).  I like freewheels, and 7 speeds
 is perfect [prefer it over 9], but am probably leaning more toward a
 cassette just because quality freewheels are getting harder to find.  The
 problem that I'm having is that it's harder to find 135 mm hubs that meet
 these requirements than 130 mm hubs, as 135 mm stuff is usually MTB oriented
 and more colorful (usually anodized).  So, I'm starting to think about maybe
 getting a set of road hubs and buying a new axle and respacing it... anybody
 ever done that?  Is it hard to find proper axles?  It looks like Harris
 sells all the parts that I need...
