That's amazing. I remember when they were in the dollar box at The Pedaler in El Sobrante all those years ago. I paid $65 for one of each on Ebay a year ago. [RBW] Re: Albatross OR Bosco
I use both. I have the Albatross bars on my city bike, a Soma mixte, and the Bosco Barshttp://simplecycle-marc.blogspot.com/2012/06/rivendells-bosco-bars.html on my new Hillbornehttp://simplecycle-marc.blogspot.com/2012/06/new-blue-sam-hillborne-n0-for-now.html. I like them both, but would prefer the Bosco for any longer ride. I am sticking with drop bars on my Hunq, but only because I use it for loaded touring although the Bosco bars would be a tempting change for that also. The Bosco bars have a much better aero position than the Alba, but not as great as drops. The Bosco provides more variety than either the Alba or drops. You won't regret using the Bosco. Marc On Friday, April 13, 2012 8:21:51 AM UTC-4, Christian wrote: Hi everyone I am in the market for a new set of bars. I'd like to get either the Bosco or the Albatross. But I wonder if someone could help me figure out what the Bosco does that the Albatross does not do and vice versa. Of course from photos they do appear different yet they also fill a similar need. Thoughts? If anyone has Albatrosses they're thinking of selling or trading let me know--a long shot, to be sure. I've got some newish Salsa Cowbells and a some used On One Midges. I bought the Horse posted back when RBW was selling off the extras for a silly-low price. I didn't own a BStone at the time but thought the poster was beautiful. Sweetie pair someone to frame it all nice for me as a gift. It hangs in the dining room and covers a large patched hole in the wall where a mirror used to hang. I see a couple on Rams riding through my neighborhood quite often (on the bike lane to the UofU), the last time I rode the Cycle SL Century there were about a half dozen others, and there is a Brian (?) in PC who rides a Ram and posts here often. Mark at Saturday Cycles sold me the most comfortable bike I ever swung a leg over. I imagine that Hillborne came from his shop. We are lucky to have him in town. I'll be riding my blue Boo on the Edible Wasatch ride Saturday so say hello if you're there too. glen On Wednesday, June 13, 2012 9:57:43 AM UTC-6, Darin G. wrote: Does anyone on this list own the Green 2TT Hillborne with the cream longboards I saw today in downtown Salt Lake City? Among the various distinct groups of cycling misfits that are drawn to Rivendell, the tatted and pierced anarchist/punker/hipster is well represented. [RBW] Bosque ride, with sand!
19 miles, 1:49, 15 miles of dirt, 6 miles of sand deep enough to make me work hard at 7-to-10 mph in the 36X20-22-24, just two bailouts due to the front wheel washing out, only 100 yards or so of walking, tires at roughly 12/15 (tires checked only after the fact; I let air out when I got to the first sandy patch using a well-trained thumb). 91*F, 6% humidity, winds from south at 15-18 mph, and since the ride was entirely North/South along the River Valley, utterly flat. Much of the trail -- Water Conservancy District acequia access 2-track -- was heavily used by horses with the resulting choppiness. Despite the obstacles, a very enjoyable ride, since I made myself take it easy. I mean to do two back-to-back rides, today's in the bosque, tomorrow's, God willing, on the West Mesa sand hills; this to show in photographs the vast geographical and faunal differences that exist only a few miles apart. I had hoped to take more photos today but my memory card clogged after just nine -- must learn how to reduce resolution -- any experts onlist for old Cannon Powershot SD 300? (As for accessibility, I found that my right jersey pocket was a very convenient stowage for the camera). https://picasaweb.google.com/BERTIN753/June132012 -- Push back against the age as hard as it pushes against you. [RBW] Re: Portland Riv-ish Ride
A shorter O option might be either: a. Take MAX to end of the line in Hillsboro and ride out to Stub Stewart; OR b. Ride out to Oxbow and back (breakfast at M M in Gresham the next morning would be a nice option). Dates might be tough on this since everyone is busy. Steven, Of course that's Hank's new Atlantis. It's the 4th Atlantis I know of in San Luis Obispo. George, me, Hank, and one mystery owner. The drive side Sugino crank on that bike is one I picked up at the Riv garage sale. Hank had to buy the LH crank. Hank has been talking about a local Riv ride soon, that may have to happen. The owner was waiting for me to arrive so he could meet the owner. I drooled over his Phil Wood built, 40-spoke wheels while he checked out the double top tubes.
