Thanks for that. Looks like the Bombadil is now around $3500 according to the RBW site, so the price of the Appaloosa makes sense. [RBW] Ride/Camping Report: Willamette Mission State Park, 15-16 October

Yeah, I agree Peter M. I am all over that bike if and when it goes into production. I have a Sam and a Roadeo now, the Appaloosa would fit really well with those. I would set it up as a cruiser with some freaky high bars like the bosco bars. Great ride report. A friend and I rode from Southern Oregon to the SF Bay Area in September. We were hoping for the usual fall sunshine, but we got that September rain you talked about. [RBW] Ride Report, unusual, but no Riv content
Thought I'd report on my Trek's first ride across country. It took about an hour and half for me to disassemble the bike and pack it into the case. A couple of false moves and redo's so I'm hoping the next try will be closer to 45 minutes. Plus I took off the brakes, which I think is unnecessary, and will try tying them together between the fork blades and seat stays. The handle bars are the tricky part and only when I got that right could I get the front wheel in and the lid closed. Then I started stuffing shoes and clothes in to all the crevices. Put the whole thing on my random number generator which masquerades as a bathroom scale and guessed I was about 51-52 lbs. Took out a few tools, about three lbs worth and put them in my clothes suitcase. When I got to the airport it weighed in at 49.5, phew. I meant to put my cell phone number and an offer to help the TSA if it needed to be repacked, but forgot. Sure enough the TSA had disturbed everything and dislodged the compression stops. But as far as I can tell the only harm was grease on my brand new HB tape and a small scratch on the stem. Got the bike together and rode in Grizzly Park out the Canyon rode and Nimitz trail. And since much of the pavement looked as if it had been imported from VT, I felt very happy for the 38mm Pacentis. I'll be in El Cerrito till the 27th and am thinking about testing Shipbikes.com for the return trip to Vt. [RBW] Re: New to me, Sam Hilborne coming soon.
Hooray for new bike day! On Friday, October 18, 2013 10:50:09 AM UTC-7, blakcloud wrote: The demo Sam Hilborne was up on the Riv site this morning and I bought it. Should be here in about two weeks and I am pretty excited. I have never bought a bike I have never sat on before, so this is a test and a little nerve racking. I will post photos when it arrives and after I modify it slightly with parts I have on hand. It comes with drop bars and silver bar end shifters, which will be changed out to Albatross bars and Dura Ace bar ends. I also have Hetre tires that will be swapped out. Porteur rack and basket will be added for functionality. This bike will be used for leisure rides with my wife who has her Betty Foy. I have officially entered the RBW Owners Bunch with my own Rivendell!! Thomas -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. I've never warmed to the riser bars. A dirt drop stem and Albatross bars would be just the thing for my liking. On Friday, October 18, 2013 6:07:00 PM UTC-5, Deacon Patrick wrote: Yes. [RBW] Re: Brooks Leather Bar Tape
Peter, When I replaced the Nitto Noodles on my Hunqapillar with the Bosco bars I just moved the Brooks tape from the noodles to the bosco. I double wrapped the rearward grips and single wrapped the rest. I like the way it feels and looks. http://www.flickr.com/photos/62115944@N08/8553185932/ Jon On Friday, October 18, 2013 12:36:10 AM UTC-4, Peter M wrote: I know it was discussed on the list but I couldn't find it in archives. I am switching my H-Bar setup on the Bombadil to the bosco-bullmoose bars and weighing my options. I have used the VO elkhide sew on wrap before but its limited with how much cush you can put below it and still get it sewn on looking right. Can I use the Cork grips in the grip section and leather bar wrap on the rest without it looking too over the top? [RBW] Re: Appaloosa 58.7 Web Special but...
This is a great looking bike and might even fit me but it is several orders of magnitude above of my affordability league. That said, I can chalk up the mismatched grip tape to wimsy but what's the deal with the mismatched brakes? • Perry -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: Appaloosa 58.7 Web Special but...
Keven's http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/staff3.htm is set up the same way, so my guess is there's either some issue with the placement of the cable stops or the routing that precludes the effective use of a brake hanger... or you're just buying the remainders of Keven's mismatched pair. RBW can put a curve on a fork like nobody's business. That's a pretty fork there. That fork is so pretty that you might as well ditch your heirloom flatwear and just use chopsticks from now on. That bike is screaming for a cream headtube and windows, too. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
