Which distance are you doing? I've committed to volunteer at Cyclovia on Sunday, then I'm riding the El Grupo Gran Fondo the week before El Tour. [RBW] Re: Please help me with my Honjo fork crown problem please.
UPDATE: Thanks for your ideas everyone. I decided to use a Honjo L bracket with Sheldon fender nut, and the radius and fenderlines are fine that way. The fender has 1mm clearance between it and the brake when brake is centered and QR closed. So that works fine. *Now two more minor issues:* 1.The nose twists a little off one direction, and the tail goes t'other. 2. When I tighten the stays to the dropouts, it over straightens the tail and it winds up twisting the other way. Weird. [RBW] Wheel Stabilizer or no?
Since putting a Mark's Rack and a basket on the front of my Betty Foy, my front handlebars flop most prodigiously (and annoyingly) when there's anything in the basket. I'm writing to get you folks' opinions on wheel stabilizers, or any other solutions you can think of to fight the flop. [RBW] Re: Wheel Stabilizer or no?
My first foray into a stabilizer was the Velo Orange one. It worked reasonably well but you still had to be somewhat careful with heavier loads. What I didn't like was the clamp around the tube, it makes the bike look ugly. When I had my bikes repainted I had them braze on small clip for the spring eliminating the clamp and used the rest of the parts from the VO. Velo Orange http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/chainguards-stay-protectors-kickstands/vo-wheel-stabilizer-xl.html My solution https://www.flickr.com/photos/87106495@N07/12151022165/ I do wish that my Rivendell had the small braze on, because like you I got a lot of flop with Mark's Rack and Wald basket. For this bike I just use a velcro pant strap, while I load the bike. On another note, I asked a custom frame builder who was building porteur bikes to add this braze on and he refused. He would do everything else I asked for but he believed that they didn't work and he wouldn't do it, so I didn't have the frame built. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Wheel Stabilizer or no?
Probably unlikely, but a loose headset would cause the front end to flop when parked moreso than a properly adjusted headset. Exploring every option. If it's mostly flop when parked on a kickstand that's the trouble, perhaps a twin leg stand would help. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] Re: Wheel Stabilizer or no?
they help but it does not solve all problems, heavy loads will still swing around. the type of headset also makes a difference, my bike with needle bearings seem to swing a little less. a double-kickstand (cut to the right height) can also help when the bike is on the stand. but in my case the bars swing when not on the stand! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. I think that twist is an archive of the fact that they come off of the forming machines in a big curly Q. with the fender off the bike twist it a bt the other way and gently cold set the twist out.
