I've never done this, but if I did, I would try gently using a ball peen hammer

Update: sale pending on the combo package. Sorry to those I haven't
gotten back to, I've been busy. There have been a lot of responses and I'm
dealing with folks in the order in which they replied.

On Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 9:41:50 PM UTC-7, Z wrote:

 Hello group,

I'm reluctantly selling my recently-acquired 56 cm Atlantis frameset and
26 wheelset. I was hoping to turn these into a whole bike, but it wasn't
 meant to be.

 Here's the 411:

 - 56 cm Rivendell Atlantis, Waterford-built. Only blemishes are from
previous owner fitting wheels (scratches at dropouts) and from me fitting a
seatpost (*really* tiny nick in paint at seatpost clamp). Never been
built up or ridden. Still packed as if it had come straight from Walnut
Creek. Includes installed FSA headset and front/rear brake cable hangers.

 - 26 Mavic XC717 rims, 32 hole, black with ceramic coated side wall.
Laced to silver Chris King classic hubs (135 mm rear spacing). Rims show
signs of use and wear but true and in good condition. Hubs are
 particularly shiny. No skewers.

$1600 for the frameset, $200 for the wheelset or $1750 for the package
 (shipped).

Please contact me off-list for photos or additional info. I'll probably
soon be selling some Rivvy-style parts and an almost-complete Rawland Stag
 (size Large) as well.

 Thanks,

 Zach

Thanks for the heads up Michael,

I received an invoice for a pr Shipping to the States is fairly
reasonable ~$10. The note said that the tires are about 10% heavier than
claimed thus the discount.
I have been riding the regular Cerf's and Cypress and thought they're
already pretty nice, especially if you paired them up with latex tubes,
either Vittoria or Challenge.
Can't wait to try the extra leger.
I wonder if these work as tubeless?

These don't look like the hammered rivets on the B67 select. These are the

Sean,

I can't make a direct comparison since I haven't owned tires of either
brand in that exact size, but I can tell you that the new Compass Pass 42mm
tires do surpass the ride quality of the Grand Bois version they set out to
improve upon, so my guess is that the Compass will be superior when
comparing the other sizes as well. But if the Grand Bois tires can be had

sounds like a good choice to me!

Riv all the more for their relative ease in building up, modifying and of
course riding! I think I ended up with a pretty good interpretation of a

1980's Schwinn World stepthru frame (powdercoated)
26 3/8 Wheelset, Dyno Front, 2 spd Rear, Schwable tires

Wald Baskets front and rear

[RBW] Re: GrandBois tires on sale at Grandbois

2015-01-18 Thread SeanMac
Anton,

I appreciate your response. Using pretty much the same logic as you - I
decided to order a pair of the tires.

The ordering process, unfortunately, is a bit complicated. Basically,
after placing my order, I received a confirmation email from Grand Bois.
If I understand things correctly, I will (at some point) receive a second
email telling me what my final cost will be - specifically adding shipping
charges (which were not given in my initial order) and subtracting Japanese
sales tax. After receiving this information, I will be invited to finalize
the transaction by paying with my Pay Pal account.

The process does make me a bit nervous. However, it does seem that I can
back out if the shipping charges are too high for my liking. The
transaction is a bit complicated, but the deal is pretty darn good.
