[RBW] WTT: 175mm XD2 triple for 172.5

2017-01-27 Thread Bob K.
Hey Folks,

I have a 175mm XD2 triple with standard Riv chain rings that I'd like to swap
for the same crank but 172.5. I'd maybe even prefer the wide/low double with
chainguard.

Maybe 500 or 600 miles on the crankset since I bought it off a list-member in
like new condition. Some of the miles I have put on it have been off-road, so
there are a few scuffs.

Thanks!

2017-01-27 Thread Philip Kim
i used to have the Nitto 174, and switched to the Compass Maes.

The Nitto 174 had too short of a reach for me, locking my hands at the
hoods of the levers. I got the maes and it offers more room to move my
hands around, but still a short drop. I think if you use modern STI type of
levers, the short reach is likely not a problem. also like the heat-treated
aspect of the compass maes versions.

Re: [RBW] Re: RIVEOPARDY

2017-01-27 Thread Grant Petersen
Dream was good, probably acceptable given the "low car.." clue, instead of
carb.

tree to bike: MY answer was cork, but rubber (one person)--that's as good
or better!

snap prone fork is carbon, but one sharpshooter had aluminum, and...kind of
works, too.

if I were a dumb millionaire (for the record, even if I accept "dumb" I
don't qualify!)-- answer was 603, but there could be other answers

favorite answer was "bandana" for equally good undies for hobo or
billionairre. I meant wool, but hard to not like bandana.

required for car but not for bike: could be many things. I'd intended disc
brakes, but there were 6-7 other answers that worked--speedometer, rear
view mirror, glove box (marginal, since Ford won't get sued if they didn't
include one)..

Only one response so far to Dave's Roughy Toughy Semi-Genuine one. I
flunked it, but there's a dead-eye amongst you who either missed zero or
two, depending on how Dave grades it...which goes back to his experience in
school, whether he jogged left or right.

2. Ruthworks Lightweight Handlebar "Brevet" Bag, black camo Xpac - $80
3. Crust Bikes Leather Bar, 666mm Wide drop bar & 6cm Nitto Technomic combo

However if you don't want the stem I'll separate it. - $90
4. Rivendell / Nitto HiRiser Upright Threadless stem - $50
5. Nitto M18 Front Rack & Small Wald Basket - $90

please text me @ 3 1 0 9 6 3 6 nine five nine.

Thanks for looking!!

Re: [RBW] Re: dynamo light decisions: Lumotec or Edelux?

2017-01-27 Thread Peter White
We now have a good solution for this. Schmidt is making, and I'm stocking,
co-axial connectors. You place them in line a few inches from the hub. Then
the spade connectors stay on the hub, and you connect and disconnect the
wires using the co-axial connector. One connector for both conductors. If
you are also using a charger, you also have the co-axial connectors on the
charger's wiring. So you leave the piggyback connectors on the hub. And of
course it makes no difference which wires off the hub go to the headlight
and which to the charger, as it's just a parallel connection.

Would you be able to provide a ballpark estimate of what shipping would be to
Northern California. I apologize for not sending a private message, but I
didn't seem to have to option in my phone. Do you have some pictures of the
gram to post as well?

I've been listening intently for updates whispers also. Grant's news was
disappointing. But Grant is a clever chap, and that means there is hope
that a set-back can be turned into an opportunity. It is a great idea, and
I'll be patient until the breakthrough comes.

Re: [RBW] dynamo light decisions: Lumotec or Edelux?

2017-01-27 Thread 'Stephen Kemp' via RBW Owners Bunch
Just to pick up on Peter's point on flicker, low speed means walking pace.
This means flicker is not apparent in most riding scenarios.

All dynamo powered LED headlights flicker at low speeds. It's more
noticeable with the IQ-X because it's flickering more brightly than other
headlights at those low speeds.

I will be able to comfortably use the drops. I will not be as bent
