I really like the bullmoose I’ve got on my bombadil, and think it would be
great on a hunqapillar mtb too.

Yes, I've been looking closely at the jones bar (my wife is getting a Jones
Spaceframe so we can start exploring more trails together). The adapter
requirement seems ugly and complicated though. I think wavie is the way to
go.

Thanks

[RBW] Re: MTB Hunqapillar questions

2019-04-28 Thread Chris L
For the kind of mountain biking a Hunqapillar can handle, the Jones Bar is
hard to beat. The angle is perfect and the 710 mm version has a ton of
hand positions you can use, depending on riding conditions. Also, the
Jones bar is the most confidence inspiring bar I've ridden. My Hunqapillar
felt good with a regular MTB bar but it feels much better with a Jones
Bar.

Re: [RBW] Re: What high security locks are people locking their bikes with?

2019-04-28 Thread John Phillips
If there are racks or fenders bolted to the dropouts on the front of a
Riv, the Abus Nutfix won't fit, it's diameter is too large. Similiarly, the
Nutfix won't work on forks where the dropout is too close to the tube of
the fork.

I had the opposite problem with Pitlocks and my Hunqapillar: the plate
of the locking nut where it contacts the fork is smaller than the plates
you find on quick release skewers and the even the opposite plate of the
Pitlock. When tightened correctly, I saw the fork was actually bending the
skewer of the Pitlock. It didn't look strong enough to defeat even a simple
blunt force hammer attack, and I felt queasy riding on a front wheel where
the skewer didn't look like it had a strong hold on the fork.

Maybe I was being overly cautious and paranoid, that's sort of my
normal state of mind, but here in the East Bay, hills and pot holes and
bike thieves follow me everywhere.

Re: [RBW] Re: Mystery bike in April Blahg

2019-04-28 Thread Bicycle Belle Ding Ding!
How long do you think before Rivendell lets us in on the details of the
Anniversary Mixte? I’ve been planning out my new bike in my head and someone
needs to hit me with a reality check soon, because I’ve had too much time to
“decide” that this bike is going to be everything I want. The bike is red in my
head and there has been ZERO hint of that from the drawing, ha. I’ve also
decided to make it extremely expensive with dyno lighting and the new rumored
basket rack and fancy new Backabike bags and alll the trimmings. I’ve also
decided no one else should have my Betty and I should horde that bike,
regardless of whether I even have room in the garage. I think I understand
dragon sickness (see the Chronicles of Narnia).

Send help.

Meh. While I really enjoy Rivendell's approach to decal design and naming,
I'd buy and ride them with no decals. Hell, I'd probably prefer it.

Love the headbadges though.
