I ended up ordering a bag from Randi’s new color line today. Campfire color;
and when you hold up the RBW patch to it = perfect match. ❤️

Leah,

I second Jonathan’s suggestion. The Rivelo camera bag is really nice. The
photos do not make justice. I would guess that one could fit my 40oz bottle.

I also recall John posting that Randy was there for a trunk show a week or two
ago, and left some regular bartender bags as well as caps in stock at Rivelo.

I mentioned this on similar IG post but my experience is that if you inquire

assuming you’re not impatient.

[RBW] Don't Miss Sights Around Las Vegas

2019-05-05 Thread Bicycle Belle Ding Ding!
Hey, that’s my neck of the woods! If you are going to be staying in Boulder
city, you really need to check out the hikes in that area. How fit are you?
Goldstrike Hot Springs is an amazing, not to be missed hike. It is very
challenging and there is some rock scrambling so you have to be in shape to do
it. I, myself, couldn’t have done it alone, and needed a boost over several
boulders on the way. If you want something easier, you can bike the wetlands in
Henderson. Also, someone mentioned Valley of fire, and he is absolutely right.
That will be about an hour’s drive north for you, but you’ll never see anything
like it again. If you want to hike in Summerlin, a nice community near Vegas,
Red Rock Canyon is the place for you. Also, tons of people ride bikes out
there, but I think mostly on the roads which has never been my thing. This
should whet your appetite! Let us know what you decide to do!

I don’t know the exact measurements but an 8cm Nitto dirt drop might give you
something not too far off from that LD stem but without all the adaptors and
extra boltage.

ButI guess that crust one is a 4cm. With them being that close, you might
as well try the 5cm technomic. Then you can decide if an extra cm less is
really worth it.

Hey Paul. I was in Las Vegas last fall for a trade show. On the last day, I

drive you out to the sites, also rides where they lead you. I just pick the
bike up there and Road. I went to red Rock canyon which is just outside of
town. Very beautiful, not too much traffic. I'll see if I can dig up the bike
shop name. Here's a link to my Instagram I took some pictures.

[RBW] Don't Miss Sights Around Las Vegas

2019-05-05 Thread in Dallas nick
It looks like I will be in the Las Vegas, NV

area the week of May 20th.

This will be my first trip to the area other than a brief layover at the
airport years and years ago.

I'm not sure I will get any riding in as I will be with an elderly gentleman,
although some might say I am about at the elderly stage myself.

I guess that's a matter of perspective but he's 25 years older than me. Ha!

I met this gentleman via cycling.

I'm sure he would love to ride if he could but I fear for his balance on a 2
wheeler.

Perhaps I will rent a bike and try for a short ride while he has dinner with
his friend.

Our hotel is near the Boulder area  so I do plan on seeing the dam.

I'm not really interested in casino gambling aspect but I'm sure there are some
cool areas to visit within an hour or two of the area.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: [RBW] Randi Jo Fab bartender bag for RBW

2019-05-05 Thread Leah Peterson
Patrick, My Hydroflask is 32 oz, and it’s the only bottle I carry in the
relentless summer heat of this desert. Or any time, really. The bottle cages
won’t work for a large flask. But the Randi Jo bag will!

Ted - thanks, you’re brilliant. Guess what I found in the drawer???

I think this was a gift from friend Roberta after her visit to RBW. I remember
saving it for something special but never could make up my mind on what that
might be. I could use it for the bag from Randi or maybe on the new Backabike
bags I hope to get when blue comes back in stock.

Thanks, guys. Now to decide between “Woodpecker” or “Campfire” colors...

Re: [RBW] Re: Hiluki vintage ??

2019-05-05 Thread G.E.
This is just a "for what it may be worth" comment...

I purchased a NOS Saluki from Riv in 2017 and because it was unpainted they
told me I could have it decaled/headbadged with either Saluki or AHH info -
my choice. Sooo... I'm thinking they may have Saluki headbadges around
somewhere that they'd be willing to sell.

[RBW] Randi Jo Fab bartender bag for RBW

2019-05-05 Thread 'Deacon Patrick' via RBW Owners Bunch
"...bottle cages won't do."

Because of size? Aesthetics? I use King Cage Iris cages for my Klean Kanteen 27
oz bottles and they work great. They look to be the same diameter as this
hydroflask:
https://www.hydroflask.com/24-shave-ice-limited-edition/color,bluehawaii,a,92,o,339.
The Iris cage handles the stainless steel, taller bottles very well.

Riv is sold out at the moment, but their link is:

King Cage is: http://kingcage.com/index.php?products=yes

[RBW] Randi Jo Fab bartender bag for RBW

2019-05-05 Thread Bicycle Belle Ding Ding!
Remember when Randi Jo Fab made bartender plus bags for Rivendell? That was
before I knew what these were, and before I had need of one. I bring my
Hydroflask everywhere, and bottle cages will not do. I tucked my flask in the
side pocket of my Saddlesack and I got as far as the end of my driveway before
it bounced out, denting it and chipping away at the tangerine paint. But I hear
a Bartender Plus can take a flask this size!

Rare as hen’s teeth I’m sure, but thought I’d ask if someone has an unused or
unloved RBW Bartender bag they want to sell me.

If not, I see Randi Jo has released the summer colors of the bag on her website
and I’ll head there instead. In fact, I’ll head there anyway, because Mom
should have one for her new Cheviot...

Anyway, you know where to find me.
Thanks!
Leah

Re: [RBW] Re: Remember Islabikes?

2019-05-05 Thread Leah Peterson
Oh, it matters. Would I have sprung for the $$$ Islabike after buying the Giant
only months before if it did not? A bike mechanic at REI was servicing both
boys’ bikes and he knew the hill on our school commute. Baby Bear had been
frustrated on the Giant - he was proud of his bright yellow new bike, but he
could never make it up the hill without walking the bike and feeling defeated.
The mechanic picked up the Giant and said, “If you have a child who will ride
THIS bike up THAT hill, you have a very good kid. This bike is HEAVY.” And it
was. It weighed as much or more than my older son’s bike. It weighed as much as
my child, or nearly. I was heartsick.

I sold that thing and bought that Islabike quicker than a jackrabbit on a date.
Baby Bear took off on that little red rocket and beat us up the hill every darn
day. He hung onto that bike for years before I finally insisted he needed the
next size up.

It matters.

Re: [RBW] Re: Remember Islabikes?

2019-05-05 Thread 'Mark in Beacon' via RBW Owners Bunch
Removing the drive train? You mean to make it a stride a bike? The bikes
being discussed are for kids presumably well-past that stage. And sure, my
guy might not "care" but only because he has no baseline. In between the
Islabike and the WOOM, I did assemble a nifty vintage GT Mt. Bike, complete
with custom 150 cranks that I had a friend machine for me. He seemed
perfectly content. But after a downhill spill, I decided to spring for the
WOOM, remembering how happy I (and Mack) was with the Islabike. I'm not
fussy or overprotective or the spoiling, get him what he wants only the
best kind of parent, but a nice bike for my kid, absolutely. Cost is about
3 sets of Compass/Rene Herse tires, or a mid-price wheel set from Rivendell.
