Actually,  if she's riding serious gravel, a full on mountain bike tire might 
be advisable. I run Continental Race Kings on my Ogre & they are really pretty 
great on pavement also. (surprisingly so!)

Continental DoubleFighter IIIs might fit the bill. I was looking for a tire 
under $40 a few years ago and got a pair for $60. Riv is out of Continental 
Race King Sports but those are lighter than the DoubleFighters and have a 
knobbier tread.

Echoing others I also like the ThunderBurts and Big Bens. On my mostly 
asphalt commuter I use a TB up front and a Big Ben in the back.

[RBW] Where's the serial number on my Atlantis?

I have a MIT Atlantis I purchased new last fall; would like to register it 
on Bike Index (and I'd love to hear any other recommendations anyone has 
for this sort of registry) but I can't find the serial number. Is it hidden 
under the plastic cable plate under the bb?

I've had Thunder Burts on my Atlantis which I really loved. Wanted to try 
the Rat Trap Pass, which I love even more, especially on streets. They're 
considered a gravel tire and I have used them off-road; great there too.

Maxxis DTH, actually 2.15, but pretty close. Not overly heavy for their size

Kenda Kozmik ii lite available in 26x2.0 in a more supple casing ...455g.
