Cold brew coffee keeps for at least a week.
It can be made very concentrated so a small amount can be used to make a larger
amount.

If I were going out for a week or less, I would take my prepare concentrate

Not the same but I grind mine the night before then float a cheesecloth bag I
found mine at NG’s and leave it in your Kleen Canteen overnight and take it

Yeah, I can't see the plastic bag working for more than a day or two.

I guess the only thing I'd do is bring along some cheesecloth to strain the
coffee into a cup? But your tolerance for grounds might be higher than mine.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything to refine or otherwise embetterify the
process you outlined in your first post without more... stuff.

The AHH fits me, as far as I can tell using stack/reach/STA/HTA and my
current cockpit length on a 21" 1988 Schwinn Voyaguer (the 21" is 53cm C-T
which is the same as a 52cm C-C AHH).However, having medical problems
with carpal tunnel in both hands I need to resolve. If the AHH is still
available in the end of June, let me know, I'm interested.

I would not need the bars (I use drops, the RBW noddle or Compass
Radonnuer) brake levers, and the stem is way too long, and I the tires are
not road type and too big.

But still interested if available end of June. Can you send a picture of
the headset area. Looks like you have an extended steerer tube.

[RBW] "About Rivendell™ Bicycle Works"

2019-05-26 Thread Patrick Moore
Late to the party as usual, and please ignore if you saw it long ago, but I
just stumbled across this while looking for reasonably priced fenders for a
friend -- one product was on the Riv website.

https://www.rivbike.com/pages/about-us-1

For the record: I write resumes for executives; the median range is $200K
-- $350K, and often much more than that. I write for all industries and
functions, with tech perhaps being dominant. My clients are of all races,
cultures, and personality types; if I haven't seen it all, I've seen a very
great deal of it.

Also for the record, I am a "small is beautiful" believer,
arch-traditionalist (Orthodox Christian) who (to state things provisionally
in entirely inadequate conventional categories, and categorizing "in
principle" and not "in fact") am a Platonist and monarchist. I am not in
any way new age or liberal.

But I have to say that the "About Us" page and especially the embedded
video warmed my heart. God damn capitalism (socialism too); the Rivendell
business model is simply normal and human. Sure, in Plato's Republic or in
Dante's earthly paradise, bicycles and Rivendell would have no part. But in
the world we live in, Rivendell is on the side of the angels.

I was struck by the merely human quality of those presented in the video:
they want something more than market share, revenue growth, and margin.
They are on the side of the traditional Indian and Sinhalese craftsmen whom
Ananda Coomaraswamy described as working overtime to their own pecuniary
loss, simply for love of what they were doing and for the good of what
there were making.

[RBW] Brewing tips for Cold Coffee Whilst Bikepacking

2019-05-26 Thread 'Deacon Patrick' via RBW Owners Bunch
It struck me (duh) that though I cold camp, that is highly conducive to cold
brew coffee.

Current plan:

Brew in insulated Klean Kanteen 20oz double wall thermos, cold from the stream
in the morning, let it travel, cold coffee in the evening. To keep things
simple, no strainer or filter, just let the grounds settle, pour and serve, and
clean the thermos with a swish and dump into a hole to burry it.

Thoughts on improving this system, with an eye for no significant weight or
volume increases?

Stack, Reach, STA, HTA lets one easily get cockpit reach given your saddle

[RBW] Re: New to me Appaloosa Joe!

2019-05-26 Thread Bicycle Belle Ding Ding!
You will love your Jo Ap. Roberta is, as we speak, on hers in the eastern part
of the country riding it in a sea of lycra and carbon and doing us all proud.
Hers is the mouth-watering butternut with burgandy accents - can you picture
it?

Enjoy your new Rivendell and I’m sorry to tell you you’ll be ruined for all
else after this. Happy summer!
