2019-05-31 Thread 'John Hawrylak' via RBW Owners Bunch
Paul

Here is a link to Compass recommendations of tire sizes for Honjo fenders,
with a listing of fenders and tire sizes.

It also shows the original idea of fender size being 40% greater than tire
size, so a 38mm tire requires a 53.2mm fender. a 50 mm fender is 31.5%
wider than 38mm fender, & a 51mm fender is 34.2% wider

Thanks. I did find a used Cambium at a very good price, but perhaps I

Are gloves not an option, or are you still getting slip with gloves on? Riv

Conversely, all the good feedback in the world doesn't seem to guarantee a

The ad does seem seem properly written, so you're probably right. It's just
something to be wary of. It's reassuring when people have experience
packing/shipping bikes - though the seller might know.what he's doing, the

i also dont think it's that weird to have no feedback. a normal, non-ebay
business person would maybe only resort to ebay for selling a high priced,
specialty item like this. ive considered it for the same purpose, and i
would have zero feedback, and no interest in regularly selling items in
order to get feedback.

[RBW] Re: Coffee Grinder Question

2019-05-31 Thread Garth

I didn't think grind method really mattered as I always used a Krupps. Out
of the blue a relative sent me his Lido 2 that he wasn't using anymore as
bought another grinder that for him was easier .

I make coffee with a 12 cup (hah hah that's 2oz. per cup) aluminum Bialetti
Moka pot and I use about 1/4c beans that makes for one nice big mug 'o joe.
My preferred coffee to grind is Seattle's Best #5, dark, smoky and
luscious. Upon tasting the Lido ground brew my first thought was something
akin to "well ain't that a kick in the pants, I never tasted* this* from
the Krupps grind, yummm ! " Bye bye Krupps. I find the Lido a breeze to
grind, the key for me was to be creative on how you hold it to your body.
It's all intuitive.

For myself it's all about the flavor, and since the hand grind tastes
notably better, so it is. I've tried lots of brands of whole bean coffee
and nothing tastes more pleasing to me that SB #5 and I can get it at my
local Kroger so the bags are always "fresh".

My brother doesn't care about the grind or any flavor as long as it's *coffee
and cheap *so he can make a whole drip pot and drink it all day long.
Everything works for Everybody, and ain't that a kicker ! ;-)

Re: [RBW] Re: Tires for 2000/2001 Toyo Atlantis with 50mm SKS fenders

2019-05-31 Thread 'John Hawrylak' via RBW Owners Bunch
Paul

Do not know since I've only used SKS P45's with 700Cx32 and 27"x1-1/4". I
would assume the Homjo's are similar from the appearance. The ratio of
tire to fender (38/51) is 76% which is higher than Jan H typically
recommends (can't remember off hand, but I recall 60% being ideal) but
appears to be doable based on the Compass description.

The SKS have a small lip on the inside. The main source of water "leakage"
are the 2 struts on the inside of the fender.

[RBW] FS: Medium wald basket, Outershell Adventure basket bag, Mark's Rack, Nitto lamp holder right side

2019-05-31 Thread phil k
I think I might have to keep the AHH, so I will make it into a stripped
down commuter.

I'm sellin medium wald basket, outershell adventures basket bag in ranger
green, mark's rack with extended nitto struts, and nitto lamp holder on the
right side.

Here are pics https://imgur.com/a/FvCHtmR. You should be able to make out
the rack set up etc.

Here is a picture of the bag.

Asking for $225 shipped for everything.

If you want to part it out, let me know.

[RBW] Re: PSA 58 Canti Sammon eBay.

2019-05-31 Thread Sean Steinle
With eBay and PayPal's buyer protection, there's so little risk, besides
time and hassle, if something goes wrong. In fact, they err on the side of
the buyer a bit too much these days, to the point where I don't like
selling on their anymore.

[RBW] Re: Best smallish rear rack for long chainstay models?

2019-05-31 Thread Sky Coulter

Doug; I tried using the large nitto big rack on my joe appaloosa and my
clementine, but it felt like the stays were so long the rack was in another
time zone. However, I think it was Joe Bernard who suggested trying the
medium sized nitto big rack with the m6 eyelets. The smaller rack seems to
fit much better with the long chainstays. I think it's about as good a fit
as I could have hoped for.

cheers,

Sky in new west
