Re: [RBW] Re: Anyone interested in a Ride in NJ in October?

2020-09-27 Thread 'John Hawrylak' via RBW Owners Bunch
Roberta

I was thinking of 12-14 mph on flat ground, others could go faster, but I'm
content with slower pace. The HHT is a railroad bed, so grades are minimal
and gradual.

We could start at the east end of it (by Highlands), if distance to Sandy
Hook is too great. It saves 12M and about 1H. But I don't know about the
distance to the train station at the east end. The Red Bank line goes
south east after Matawan, greatly increasing the distance between a station
and the HHT.

Sounds like a ride might be coming together. We need input from a "local'.

I would like to see the Rivendells and possibly ride one (never did, need
53-54cm "normal' frame size).

A possible Start/End could be the Henry Hudson Trailhead at Broadway/Lloyd
Rd/Gerard Ave in Aberdeen/Keyport. Looks like 32 parking spots at the
trail head. The Matawan train station looks to be < 1M and has city
streets to the trail head for the NYC folks.

12M along trail to Popamora Point (Highlands??) and you avoid Rt 36.
Don't know how far it is to Sandy Hook from there. Possibly 60 to 70M
total if going out to Sandy Hook. Would need to start about 0900 or
earlier??

[RBW] FS: Dromarti Black Touring Shoes 43

2020-09-27 Thread Ted Durant
Hi All -

I have a pair of Dromarti Touring shoes in black, size 43 for sale. They're
just a bit too narrow in the forefoot for me, and the leather hasn't
stretched enough to fix that. They have a lot of kilometers on them, and
plenty left. The outside leather is in excellent condition, with some
scuffing on the toes. The inside leather, a nice bordello red, has faded
around the top of the sock liner but is otherwise good. There is minimal
wear on the sole. Two brand new pairs of laces are included. I haven't
taken any photos but can do that if someone expresses interest.

Price - $55 including USPS priority mail shipping in continental US.

Milwaukee, WI USA

[RBW] FS: As-new 62 MIT Atlantis Frameset - Custom Hunq Green

2020-09-27 Thread tc
I bought this new from Riv in December 2019 almost as soon as I saw it on
their Instagram account (here's the original post
),
but don't see myself ever building it up. It has the $350 custom Hunq
green (AKA "Jay's Green") paint job, done by Rick Stefani of D I
believe...but since Riv didn't upcharge for the paint, I won't either, plus
I'm knocking $100 off of an essentially new frameset.

Sale includes frame and fork, plus the stock headset and bottom bracket
that came with it.

I will pack it up nice and tight, and ship it to you via either BikeFlights
or ShipBikes, insured (continental U.S. only).

I've never mounted anything on it; it's just been sitting in the garage in
the box. The pictures are from Riv's site. It still looks just like
this. If you're a serious buyer I'll be happy to answer specific questions
and take additional specific pictures if you'd like.

$1400 + shipping + insurance.

Thanks,
Tom

Re: [RBW] Looking for in house bike stand/holder

2020-09-27 Thread Patrick Moore
Roberta: Thanks for that link. I've been thinking of a stand or 2 and this
has the advantage of taking less floor area.

If you try this, particularly with fenders, will you please report how well
it works?

In other news, 15 years ago or so I scavenged one of those old-fashioned
parking lot bike stands from my place of work(*) made with closely spaced
vertical tubes to hold bikes by their front tires. This one could hold oh,
perhaps 10 bikes, so I had one of the janitors cut it for 4 and drove it
home in my van. It worked well, but the bikes stuck out rearward and took
up close to half the width of the garage, so I sold it on Craigslist. But
someone somewhere makes small ones, for a couple of bikes, and a neighbor
has one; I've been unsuccessful so far in seeing him out and about to ask
if he wants to sell it.

* I was the goy Administrator for the local Conservative Jewish synagogue
for a couple of years, which was a rather, well, interesting experience ...
When I told them I was an Orthodox Christian -- upper case "O" as in Russia
or Greece or Syria -- they looked at me askance; pogroms? But I reassured
them that "Jesus was a Jew" and they were mollified. Funny, all the
administrators and department heads were goyim.

 Hi Joel
Are you talking a work stand or display stand. I have a couple of Nitto
display stands that are quite nice but designed for 120 or 126 rear hubs so
a bit of a wrestle to install. I also picked up a couple of Minoura stands
that are newer so more readily fit modern bikes. More convenient but
certainly a trade off on aesthetics.

I have the very old stands that Rivendell sold years ago, not very
stable. I’d like either 1 double or 2 single bike holders, floor style to
keep my bikes safe. Recommendations appreciated. I’ve seen a few on eBay
and Amazon but thought it wise to check here before buying.

 Thanks

Re: [RBW] Looking for in house bike stand/holder

2020-09-27 Thread Roberta
Snag,

I've seen a few like this, from your link, that hold the bike vertical, but
this is the first one I saw that one can use with a rack on the back. When
I get home, I'm going to look to see if it will also work with my fenders,
as the sides of the stand come up a bit.

Thanks for the link!

Roberta

PS In college I had a bungee cord in a corner near the ceiling of my dorm
room. I tipped my bike vertical and hooked the front tire to the bungee
cord. The bike leaned on the side wall.Worked well since the dorm walls
were cinder block.
