What about a Nitto F115 bag support on the bars and an Ostrich F516 bag??
The bag has sleeves on the each side and the rack slides thru the sleeves
to support the bag. The bag has a nice map case on top. RBW used to sell
a Baggins bag that mated to the F115 bag support.

[RBW] Re: Handlebar bags

2020-10-30 Thread Joe Bernard
Racing Platypus is funny and I'm totally stealing it. My custom is a
slightly more industrial looking almost-a-mixte version of the Platypus and
I'm running it sans fenders and racks. I never know how to refer to it
because it says Rivendell on the frame but if I say "it's a Riv" that
doesn't explain which one. And I don't like saying "my custom" because that
sounds pretentious and I am but a simple and common man. So it's my Racing
Rivendell! Until I change my mind and put racks and fenders on 

It's about time they started carrying some of the load. These kids

[RBW] Re: Handlebar bags

2020-10-30 Thread dougP
My wife has an Acorn handlebar bag on her Atlantis that is similar to this:

https://www.acornbags.com/collections/front-bags/products/x-pac-handlebar-bag-coming-soon?variant=31743157010566

The black makes it hard for me to tell if it's exactly the same bag but
similar in size. On hers, we just ran some stretch cord from the D-rings
around the head tube to keep it stable. It holds plenty of little fiddly
bits in addition to the usual phone, energy bar, & glasses. Acorn makes
great stuff in small batches & always seems to improve the product.

2020-10-30 Thread Leah Peterson
Collin - tons of great links. I’m checking them all out, and I love the
Bananasax on your bar. Definitely a contender.

Steve - I hope so. I feel really bossy with my Crane bell on the MUP. I dread
ringing it.

Doug - Rear rack only, no basket. Unless I change my mind, which happens every
other day.

Tom - great find! I’m heading there now to see what they got.

Joe - you’re totally right - I need a mount for my phone. This would eliminate
the need for two bags; I could get by with just one.

Brian - I’m liking the style of those VO bags but wishing they were in a more
gray/ivory color.

I am thinking with my white Ergons and all the color in the frame that I might
like a light colored bag on the bars. I might also chat with Randi Jo about
making a custom colored one. Having so many options is dizzying.

These are great options; I’m so glad I asked! Thanks, friends!

No baskets or racks! This is a racing Platypus! I suggest not even a
handlebar bag. For granola bar, keys, spare tube,
and raspberry lip gloss, Just Rde with a support Clem following when

2020-10-30 Thread Sam Perez
Hi all selling a 90mm shock stop stem originally $150 installed it on my
bike. soften the broken pavement especially from the hoods, However It
immediately reminded me of my t-rex reach. Comes with original box all the
gummies to adjust firmness as reviewed by pathless pedaled. Didn't ride it
long enough to put any dust on it. Local bay area pick up preferred but
will ship.

You're right, the lack of an adjuster is a pain I'd forgotten about, I
didn't like it even with bar-ends and brifters. Don't use this with
downtube shifters!

Leah, You will never regret buying the Spurcycle bell. It's a wonderful

Re: [RBW] Looking for silver ultegra 9s long cage RD

2020-10-30 Thread Paul Brodek
Gotcha, thanks for that, Joe. I guess with brifters or bar-cons it's not
hard to use an inline cable tension adjuster, so the most pain would come
with downtube shifters? Can you tap the rear of the der to thread in an
adjusting barrel? That would likely detract from its Shadowy
crach-worthiness, but there's not a lot of room in that short rear casing
run for an adjuster.

[RBW] Re: Stolen Clem H? SF Craigslist

2020-10-30 Thread Matthew Williams

Clearly stolen, but it's not showing up on BikeIndex or 529Garage.

Will, Grant, or Vince: do you have an easy way to look though the list of
green 59 Clems sold in San Francisco, and find the owner?

Public Service announcement: Please register your bike's serial number with
Bike
Index and 529 Garage .
These are national registries with searchable databases so buyers, sellers,
owners, and police can check for stolen bikes.

As a Clementine rider/lover, this ad insults me. $450 for a happiness machine?
I think I’ll write to him and give him a piece of my mind.
