[RBW] Re: New look for rivbike.com and new News blog

2021-03-18 Thread Joe Bernard
I feel lost when I go there now. It's just a big photo of someone riding
and my first thought is always, "Ok now what do I do?" I like Analog's page
with a slide show of things to click on right away if you don't want to go
search the menu. It's like a "welcome inside and look around" sign.

That Riv Reader is great! I need to sit down and re-read them all. That one
shows 3 sizes of Wilbury, none of which are 52".

My girlfriend is 5 feet tall. She has a Trek 7.2 FX WSD right now, but I
wish I could get her a Rivendell. Her bike has 700 wheels but a very steep
toptube, and I think for such a small rider she should have smaller wheels.
I think she would really enjoy a Clem Smith Low 26".

This is not her picture, but the same bike:
https://media.karousell.com/media/photos/products/2015/10/10/trek_wsd_mountain_bike_154485_cdffac6c.jpg

I have been "Rivving-out" her bike gradually. It has Rivendell Wavie
handlebars, a Nitto big front rack from Rivendell, and VP Vice pedals. Next
up, I'm going to change the cranks to a "One-by" drivetrain.

It amazes me that frame has never sold. I don't believe it's ever even had
parts on it.

How tall is your gf? My very vague memory of these bikes is they were based
on the Toyo-then-Waterford Homer, which will be a shorter front-center more
conducive to dropbars than the current Cheviot/Platypus. I'm 5'-6" and I

Nice one! If I'm ever lucky enough to find a 60cm Ebisu I might actually

Sean B.,The bag only comes with the center lower velcro strap. Any
additional straps, you will have to provide.

[RBW] Re: Susie/Wolbis Front-Center Question

2021-03-18 Thread reca...@gmail.com
Thanks, all! I was wondering if it had something to do with wanting to get
the handlebars higher and the shallow head tube angle. I wonder if people
are generally also using these with shorter stems? All this was just to see
what people's riding experiences have been in terms of handling. I'll just
have to build a susie/wolbishish bike to test for myself, though not sure
where to find chainstays that long! Thanks again all!

[RBW] Re: Susie/Wolbis Front-Center Question

2021-03-18 Thread Bill Lindsay
The Original Poster asked questions bout the design of the Susie/Wolbis,
and stated their favorite bike has similarly long chainstays but a front
center that is fully 4 inches (ten centimeters) shorter. The Original
Poster asked for a comparison.

Maybe it would be useful to the discussion for you to show us that favorite
bike of yours, and let's compare it to your size of Susie. Post some
pictures!

My first instinct is that in my size of Susie, if the front center was 4
inches shorter I'd have TCO which I wouldn't want on a hillibike, and the
front end would be super heavy. The positive of a heavy front end may be
that the front tire hooks up better. The bad part of a heavy front end is
that I'd have a harder time getting the front end to roll up and over
things.
