[RBW] Re: FS: 26" Cliffhanger/XT wheel set and Brooks B68

2021-07-15 Thread Ashwath Akirekadu
Wheel set price drop - $450

26" Cliffhanger wheel set with XT hubs. All black color. Built by Rich
Lesnik. I bought these for the MIT Atlantics that I rode for less than 200
miles. Since I sold that frame last year, these have been sitting in the
garage. Practically new condition. My cost was $550.

I'm not sure how to ship wheels, hence local Bay Area (South Bay) pick up
only. I'm open to meeting half way as well.

Its pretty much a new price with a free crank. If it were me I would
probably wait for new ones to come in but if you need one now there aren't
many out there so paying top dollar seems to be the name of the game.

[RBW] Susie in a downhill bike park

2021-07-15 Thread Benjamin Park
Thought folks might be interested in my recent experience taking my Susie
to Deer Valley lift-serviced downhill bike park. Overall it was highly
enjoyable despite dealing with ridiculous bros.

Got a ton of looks and comments, ranging from very positive ("Right on!",
"Old school!", "Love it!") to puzzled and dismissive ("good luck, buddy").

She handled great! I don't ride downhill hardly ever, but she was super
balanced even on the black diamond stuff that the bros were tearing down. I
was able to keep up with my friends who were basically riding soft dually
suspended pillows. I found my Tosco bars to be perfect for the descents,
and my 2.5" Terravail's at 10psi to be enough to absorb a lot of the bumps
and grippy in tight corners.

I was a little nervous about how she would do on some fairly gnarly terrain
and she was great. Not looking to spend too much time at bike parks, but
good to know she is up for the challenge if I do.

[RBW] FS: 58cm Rivendell SimpleOne Complete Bike

2021-07-15 Thread Jared Wilson
Hello Friends

Haven't been riding enough lately to justify having more than one bike, so
up for grabs is this awesome Rivendell single speed/fixed gear.

She has her fair share of chips and imperfections, worst being a *SMALL *little
ding in the top tube, I tried to capture in photo but its so small it's
actually very difficult to accurately represent.

-58cm Rivendell Simpleone Frame/Fork
-Tange headset
-Rivendell/Nitto Faceplater 85cm stem with green SimWorks "cap" thingy
-Rivendell Tosco 55cm handlebars with Origin8 levers and ESI grips
-Shimano Deore T-610 Brakes with Kool Stop ebike pads
-Selle Anatomica X1 Black/Copper with beveled edges (almost new condition)
-Generic seatpost
-Shimano UN-300 bottom bracket
-IRD Defiant 165mm 144bcd crankset w/ matching 46t chainring
-MKS BM-7 black/silver pedals/MKS NJS Medium Toe Clips/MKS Alpha natural
straps
-KMC Chain
-All-City 17t stainless cog (15t EAI and 21t Surly included as well)
-700c Mavic (Open Sport front/Open Pro rear) to Origin8 hubs
-Clement X'plor 700x40 tires

Located in San Luis Obispo, can meet in SF Bay Area 23rd-26th or I'm happy
to have the LBS pack/ship at buyers expense.

[RBW] Re: Platypus New Bike Day

2021-07-15 Thread Roberta
Joyce,

This was a long time coming.I think your comments "svelte, agile and
beautiful" describes it well. And with your wide tires, I bet you don't
feel a pothole. The honey saddle and grips give it such a soft edge--I
love it. And, metal fenders! i wasn't going to fender mine, but changed
my mind. I got SKS, but those metal ones you have are so much nicer
looking. A very classy look!

I LOVE my AHHilsen, but end up pulling my Platy for more rides. I think
it's the feeling of freedom of the mixte design. Your other bike is a Clem
L, right, so you already know the joys of not worrying when you need to
jump off bike quickly.

Many happy miles to you!

2021-07-15 Thread Jason D
Yes he said it went to West Virginia which is my home state so I was happy
to hear that a fellow mountaineer ended up with it. Of course I was tempted
to pick it up for myself and just wear elevator shoes when I wanted to ride
it.

The pages are missing from the Riv website. I've just realized my Bar Tube

Re: [RBW] brompton in airports and airlines

2021-07-15 Thread Max S
When I travelled internationally with a Brommie, I put it inside the Ikea
tyvek bag you mentioned, with a bit of cardboard around it to provide some
protection from bumps, etc. We had to check ours, however, possibly due to
the fact there were two flights involved. Would be very curious to hear
from others what their experience has been.
