[RBW] Re: WTB: Paul Racer Medium Front

2021-08-09 Thread Scott Calhoun
I'm looking for the other half of a Paul Racer M (I need the rear,
recessed, in brushed Silver) so if someone has a set they want to split
between us, that would work too. Mine need to match and I need a set, but I
don't care what color. So if someone has a black or polished set that want
to sell, I could sell my anodized silver front to Ben.

[RBW] WTB: 650b Dyno Front wheel or wheel set

2021-08-09 Thread Alex K
Longshot here, but I am looking to replace my front wheel on my Atlantis
650b with a Dyno hub so that I can attach an IQ-X. Currently running Atlas
rims, something similar would be great. In the SF Bay Area and happy to
come pick up along the BART route. Just seeing what's out there!
Thanks,
Alex

Re: [RBW] Color theory

2021-08-09 Thread Gabriel Hargrove
Rivendell does a good job with color harmony in their frames, and I would
not discredit those choices as happenstance. I would recommend two books:
Josef Albers, *Interaction of Co*lor and Sanzo Wada (Seigensha Publishing) *A
Dictionary of Color Combinations.* Eric's statement is not without truth; I
am reminded of a specific insert from *IoC*:

“As “gentlemen prefer blondes,” so everyone has preference for certain
colors and prejudices against others. This applies to color combinations as
well. It seems good that we are of different tastes. As it is with people
in our daily life, so it is with color. We change, correct, or reverse our
opinions about colors, and this change of opinion may shift forth and back.
Therefore, we try to recognize our preferences and our aversions—what
colors dominate in our work; what colors, on the other hand, are rejected,
disliked, or of no appeal. Usually a special effort in using disliked
colors ends with our falling in love with them.”

Take, for example, the contentious love people have for Atlantis green. I
found it off putting at first, but after many miles riding I have a strong
affinity for it. Is it because I am partial to the way that bike rides, and
the color has grown on my as a result? Perhaps.

On another note regarding* A Dictionary of Color Combinations
*: These are
archetypal Japanese color combinations which certainly have deeper cultural
references that make their pairings prevalent in Japan. However, I find
most of them objectively harmonious. You may find that book helpful when
picking accessories if you are down with the Blue Lug aesthetic.

[RBW] Re: Upcoming Frame Colors for Clems

2021-08-09 Thread Johnny Alien
I am assuming the completes will be the same colors but it's only
assumption. I had asked a month ago what frame colors were coming in and
that is what I was told from Will but it was in direct relation to the
incoming frame order. I do think they mentioned a few times that this is
just part of the order and the remaining ones will be completes so I can't
imagine they won't be the same. I agree that lime/olive sounds like it
will look amazing. I know the Platypus frame color looks amazing and Will
said this was "similar":
