[RBW] WTB: 700c SONdelux or SV-8 wheelset or good rando rims

2022-07-24 Thread Nikko Mendoza

Hey y’all,

Looking for a good rando worthy 700c wheelset. Only low-drag dynos please.
SONdelux or SV-8. Rim brake, of course. Tires mounted will be 38mm for the
curious.

Alternatively, if someone has lightly used-to-new Pacenti Brevet or a similar
pair of rims, that might work too!

I’m in Oakland if someone wants to do local transactions to save from the
shipping woes.

Thanks!
Nikko in Oakland

[RBW] FS: odds & ends parts

2022-07-24 Thread David B
Cleaning out the garage! Did a switcheroo on some parts for my Clem and
it’s time to move on the things I’m not using.
Shipping is not included in the below prices. PayPal (friends/family) or
Venmo for payment please. I’ve not been active recently if my name seems
unfamiliar but if you search the list you’ll see I’ve been a longtime
member.
Photos available.
Shipping is from 60171. Local pickup also an option - I’m in River Grove,
IL.

Thanks!
David

Interested in trading for Rene Herse Oracle Ridge tires (knobby 700 x 48mm).

What I have…

(1.) Nitto 32F Front Rack - lightly used, will include mounting bolts (this
one - https://www.rivbike.com/products/nitto-mini-front-rack-32f-20020) -
$120

(2) Riv Silver Crankset - 42/28/chainguard version, 178mm - crank arms were
mounted and test ridden ~5 miles with different chainrings, chainrings are
new/unused (this one
$230

(3) Nitto Technomic Deluxe Stem - 70mm reach, 26.0mm clamp this is the
190mm tall version of the Tallux, some marks on the top from flipping bike
upside down - $35

(4) Shimano Tiagra Road Brake Levers - some marks on levers, work as
intended though - levers only, no cables/housing (these ones
- https://www.rivbike.com/products/shimano-tiagra-road-brake-levers-15091)
- $30

(5) Velo Orange Rando Drop Bars - 50cm, 26.0, mounted in a stem and with
brake levers but new, never used - I intended to swap these occasionally on
my Clem but ended up sticking with the Wavie bar full time - $40

(6) Schwalbe Thunder Burt Tires - 29 x 2.1 - liteskin version from several
years back - no flat protection so really smooth - minimal wear but dried
mud residue on them - $50

(7) Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge Tires - 700 x 55mm knobby tires, standard
version - light use but minimal tread wear - these are wonderful, only
selling as I’m going to size down to the Oracle Ridge

(8) SKS Fender Lot - gotta take them all - includes 65mm set for 26”
wheels, P45 version without flaps, P50 that I chopped the front and rear
(at mixte lower bridge) to get larger tire clearance - all are silver -
includes stays and hardware for attaching stays to fenders - I’ll check for
bridge mounts but might now have those - $20

(9) Shimano Deore XT Rear Derailleur - RD-M750, silver, some scratches on
body and dirty but works as intended - $20

(10) Black Stock Saddle - came on complete Rivendells at some point,
version with the ‘handle’ to mount bags, lightly used great condition - $20

Of course, I will need your mail address to ship. Maybe phone too if you don't
mind, in case they need that for Priority. (I know FedEx asks for that but
cannot remember about USPS.

[RBW] Re: FS: 60cm Cheviot complete, $2500

2022-07-24 Thread J Schwartz
Kurt, I'm essentially the same size as GP also... I think he's 85pbh...I'm
84.5
We are the same height otherwise. 5'10.5" with a 75cm saddle height.
I think a lot of the stretched out feeling has a lot to do with personal
preference ...some people don't mind leaning forward and others do.
I suspect another big piece is the seat tube and head tube angles being
slack , coupled with the longer bike in general. For me, I enjoy being
stretched out and forward on on my Hillborne but less so on the Cheviot.
The cheviot is a great ride for me, but I tend to like it for rides shorter
than 15 miles or so. Longer than that and I want to be on my Sam.
thanks
JS

Fantastic pictures as always John. Japan looks like a beautiful place. I
can’t wait to see where your path takes you next!

[RBW] Re: FS: 60cm Cheviot complete, $2500

2022-07-24 Thread 'Kurt Henry' via RBW Owners Bunch
J, really cool bike! You mention that the Cheviot feels stretched out for
you. How tall are you? I’m right on the line between the given sizing for
the 55 and 60. I think I’m close to Grant’s size (5’10” with a 75cm saddle
height), and I know he rides a 60cm. But I’m curious if you’re in the same
range and still feeling stretched.
Thanks!

Here’s a trailish ready big Chev for sale

Frameset purchased from Justin on this list who bought it from Riv

I built it up and have ridden for about a year and a half but have come
to the conclusion that it’s just too big for me

Even with the Toscos I'm too spread out.

 Otherwise I love this thing

It’s set up as a sort of off-roady mixte tourer

 anodized arms

Front der – IRD Alpina on IRD clamp

Rear der – Shimano Altus ...the LX in the pictures is no longer on the
 bike

Front Wheel – Shimano dynohub laced to Velocity Synergy, wheelsmith
 db14 spokes , 36h

Rear Wheel – Shimano XT (m770) hub laced to Velocity Synergy,
 wheelsmith db14 spokes 36h

Tires – Contenental Race King 700 x 2.0 on tubes

Front brake – Paul centerpull , silver

Rear brake – Tektro long pull

 Brake levers – Tektro RL520
