Kieran, I switched from Albatross to Choco. Love the Choco bars, much more
room for your hands and you can reverse them so they go slightly down vs.
up. It is a very mild rise.

Such a good deal, and a very fine seller to work with.

Best of luck with the sale, Jason.

Thanks for posting that Matt. Yes, these are the magic-components
dango bros carriers. They are the sold out polished ones and really look
great, they work really good and wish they had them in stock when I was
building my QB up but ended up using the moon units for that build (also
 fantastic)

Per the original post, I'd be willing to take offers for this,
especially if someone wanted to go without the wheelset or other items.
Just snagged the recent Ebay 58cm hunqapillar so I'm super motivated to
sell this bike to make room and justify it with my lovely wife (who is
delivering our 5th child this month) so yeah motivated to say the least.

 cheers!

[RBW] FS: Tumbleweed Prospector and two Bike Friday's

2022-11-02 Thread a spen

Hi Fellow Riv-ers,

Please access the link below to my Tumbleweed Prospector. The Riv
connection is of course, Daniel Malloy, former Riv employee who struck out
on his own to start his own adventure bike company.

Also available are two Bike Friday's. The NWT (New World Tourist) is my
bike, and the and the other is the Crusoe, for my spouse, possibly for
yours or for your friend, daughter, etc.
Better yet, by 'em both and get a package deal! ;-)

Please message me with your questions/requests (or to let me know of my
needed corrections)

Thanks for looking,

Al in VA

Nope, it doesn't exist. We need Platy owners to post the effective toptube
measurements they get, then you'll at least know ST and ETT for these
frames.

Are the prices for tires pre tire or for the entire set?

Also someone should buy that M1377 bar. Got them on my cross bike and they
are super comfortable, and of course beautiful as usual for Nitto.

Re: [RBW] Who is getting a Platypus?

2022-11-02 Thread Mark C
My Rosco Platypus came with the fork off, but lots of extra packing added
to the box by Rivendell. I ordered the Park derailleur alignment tool since
that is the bike shop standard and not that much money. I was surprised how
far the tab was out of alignment, but it was no big deal to put it right.
It is probably a good idea to watch a couple videos if you haven't seen one
used before. It took me a little longer than expected to finish putting
mine together since I had a lot of parts decisions to sort out, but got to
ride it the day after the frame arrived. These are amazing bikes.

BTW, I really like how Will routed the rear brake cable on his Platypus
more or less straight to the V brake noodle instead of going up then down,
so I did something similar. I'm surprised this isn't the standard build
now. You can just barely see it with the staff bike pictures on their site.
https://www.rivbike.com/blogs/news/wills-60cm-platypus
I ran just a bit longer housing at the rear and decided that needed a wire
tie or twine to bring it closer to the frame. Will's looks shorter/tighter
and probably didn't need that.

AFAIK RBW had stated in the newsletter that they do not want to open
the box just to check it sicne they need to ship it in another box. One
can see their logic, especially since they are handling many more frames
than 5 years ago, and can't/don't have the time to check them or feel the
level of service they provided in the past is just unattainable now,

Hi Liz,
Rosco Platy geometry is identical to the Platypus frame, so you can check
those numbers.

2022-11-02 Thread Wesley
Hi J,
Will you please tell us about your stem/handlebar combo? Does reversing the
stem make the steering unstable? As far as I can tell, you've got a V-brake
Albastache single speed setup, and based on the terrain in your photo, it
must be geared for climbing. Looks like fun!

Re: [RBW] Re: Perfect tires for Clem?

2022-11-02 Thread Hoch in ut

I’ve been running RH Untanum on my Romanceur. I’m not sure how aggressive
of a tire you’re looking for, But it had plenty of side knob traction on
some single track I rode. Lots of loose over hard. I’m not sure how rowdy
you get on the Clem, but these tires have been enough, or possibly too
aggressive of a tire for me. I may go with GK SS next time around.

Another tire that worked well for me was Teravail Ehline. I had the 29”
version but they come in 27.5 as well.
