Re: [RBW] Re: [SFRandon] OT - recovered Rivendell Atlantis

2023-07-09 Thread Adrianna T
Someone messaged me today on Reddit and through Craigslist to say they saw my bike hanging off a small tent with other things at the non-paid area of Laney flea market. He said they were asking $600 for it. I went there shortly after and I could not find it though it is entirely possible this person asking about it might have spooked them, and it was stored or covered after. Also yesterday someone spotted my Soma Groove at 12th St Oakland BART station. I’m less concerned about that bike, though I will probably return to the flea market with some frequency to see if it’s there. I think it’ll be hard to fence / get rid of. Sent from a tiny deviceOn Jun 25, 2023, at 11:56 AM, Adrianna T wrote:No, it was literally an Atlantis. Will keep an eye out. Now for the million dollar question.. what handlebars and saddlebags would
you all recommend? I know there are other conversations about Carradice
bags, but I don’t know anything about bags that would fit this type of bike
or era.

Re: [RBW] Photos and details of my 1995 Riv Road Standard build

2022-05-04 Thread Adrianna T
Wow your bike is gorgeous!!

The Elk Pass tires are really nice.

My primary concern about getting thinner wheels was that I live in San
Francisco, where I've fallen way too many times into street car tracks
especially when it's raining, so these feel like a good size.

This is the lightest and nicest bike I've ever had. The classic look and
feel suits me and the riding feels more 'my style'. I am excited to spend
more time on it!

[RBW] Re: Updates on, and further questions regarding the Riv Road Standard 1995

2022-01-27 Thread Adrianna T
Hi Joe, Greg, thanks for your thoughts.

The main thing is that I'm having trouble understanding whether this is too
small, or just right for me (I'm 5'5, I would say short torso and reach,
and regular legs). That's what I hope someone on this group can help me
understand. I understand it's not an exact science, but in this case I
don't even know if I'm in the right wheel house.

Types of rides I like:

- bikepacking
- mostly road with 20% gravel

I currently ride a modern gravel bike but that just got stolen.

If this is *possibly* the right size for me, I will probably set it up with
flat bars and 26" by 1.25" Elk Pass tires. It'll be a long term project to
get this set up as a 'forever bike', a bike that I'd spend time building,
and hopefully ride for a long time. I am fine with the price of the frame,
given the cause and rarity.

But I don't know at all whether or not it's even possible. I went to see it
yesterday and stood over it, but without anything attached to it, that felt
hard to gauge.

With the current info above, what do you all think?

[RBW] Updates on, and further questions regarding the Riv Road Standard 1995

2022-01-27 Thread Adrianna T
Hi everyone,

I went to see Joe B at the Marin Museum of Bicycling to see if I want the
Riv Road Standard bike frame.

Details were somewhat unclear and as this group pointed out, it's hard to
tell size and fit when the bike is not built up.

So further details are posted her (on my personal page):

https://skinnylatte.notion.site/Riv-Bike-e56ddf417ee54e788e3a445eafc46f44

Joe also called Grant and provided this update:

" After talking with Grant, and trying a few more wheels, it appears the
frameset is for 26x1.4" wheels (MTB, 559 bead seat size). So tires would be
35mm max, 32mm more like it. "Pre-1999 for sure," says Grant."

My main question is: I previously thought this might be *just nice*, now I
am not so sure.

Anyone see anything interesting about the new information here? I still
want it very badly of course, and that's maybe why I can't be objective
about it ;/

Thank you everyone for your input!

I am going to think about this quite seriously and may come back with
questions about the parts I need to build it up.

[RBW] Re: Question about the 1995 Waterford Road standard

2022-01-27 Thread Adrianna T
Definitely a toss up at the moment because of price, and how I am not sure
it will be 100% a perfect fit. But it's tempting because of the color and
how it's not that common to come by.

I don't actually own a Riv at the moment, but have ridden a friend's
Roadeo, and loved it; so either I go into this for the heck of it, or I try
to get a new Roadini, Roadeo or Atlantis. I have a fancy modern gravel bike
right now, which I like, but I think for the same weight I probably prefer
the Riv style of things.

[RBW] Re: Question about the 1995 Waterford Road standard

2022-01-27 Thread Adrianna T
Thanks for all the thoughts. I have reservations about buying this frame at
this price, but that's alleviated by the knowledge that it's for the
museum. In any case, I will go see it, and probably decide later in the
week.

I don't actually have a Riv at the moment, I have one of those gravel bikes
that I will likely sell for a Riv. Whether it's a 1995 one or a new one, I
don't know.

[RBW] Question about the 1995 Waterford Road standard

2022-01-16 Thread Adrianna T
Hi folks,

I saw this ad and I am very
tempted:
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/bik/d/fairfax-wow-beautiful-1995-rivendell/7429374409.html

I'm going to see it next week to decide.

1. I am 5' 5 female, any ideas on whether this will fit me?

2. This will be my first vintage bike, and I am so excited! Any other tips
or advice on this particular frame?
