Re: [RBW] Re: shipbikes.com vs. bikeflights.com

2019-12-30 Thread Conor Skelding
Just used Shipbikes for the first time on Saturday (after it quoted me $62
for the west suburbs of Chicago to Brooklyn compared to Bikeflights $87).

Now the Fedex tracking page shows an "exception," which I've never seen
before. Anyone know what this means?

This is part of the moving sale of 718 Cyclery in Gowanus. No affiliation

They also have a complete Sam (link

which having seen IRL is nice (too small for me).

If you're a single male, maybe ride to San Ysidro, walk your bike across
the border, and bike across Tijuana to the beach?

Re: [RBW] Make my AHH look less tempting!

2019-09-29 Thread Conor Skelding
This doesn't go to the camouflage but to the theft problem -- insure it?
Either renters insurance that covers a bike up to that cost (or add a rider
to your regular police), or try Velosurance (no experience with them).

[RBW] WTB -- BOBish bike. And -- thoughts on this Romlus FS?

2019-08-25 Thread Conor Skelding
New to the list, and very grateful to have found my way to the
BOB/Riv/unracer subculture. Short tours and commutes and rides for errands
have been how I've biked since I was a kid, and it was welcome to see this
all expressed as a coherent ideology..

I've had my 2008 Jamis Aurora (cromoly steel) touring bike since that year,
and am now looking for a new (to me) bike.

If anyone is looking to sell a BOBish bike, in New York City or the region,
please let me know. I'm not looking for the perfect RB-1 at this point in
my life. Missed the bike boom by a few years, and am looking for a
venerable steel frame from the 70s-90s. Projects welcome.

Saw this listing on local CL. Thoughts?
