Re: [RBW] Shifting a Rohloff from the stem
Andrew, I have a custom stem that has a clamp on the underside of the stem extension, essentially like the Thorn 55mm accessory bar and the Rodriguez Doohickey. It is a clamp brazed to the underside of the extension and is mtb bar diameter. I have a scrap piece of mtb bar and the stock Rohloff shifter is on the right and my bike computer is on the left of the stem. It works just fine for road riding, riding single track it is a little more awkward then having it right by the brake. Especially if you are riding slowly over roots and tricky terrain and need to shift really often to keep up with the less fearless riders. My handle bar is a 31.8 Salsa Cowbell with Cane Creek road brake levers. It is a comfortable setup. I like the Rohloff, even if it is on the heavy side, the shifting is sublime, smooth, either static or pedaling. I'm happy with my setup. David On Aug 24, 2014, at 8:24 PM, BSWP ashtab...@gmail.com wrote: I'm purt near serious about making up a new frame with a Rohloff IGH. Looking at the myriad ways of mounting the shifter, I'm drawn to putting it on the quill stem, like shown here, #11, on someone's Atlantis: http://cyclingabout.com/index.php/2011/11/rohloff-hubs-with-drop-handlebars/ This seems reasonable, and leaves me free to experiment with bars and brake levers. [RBW] Handlebar diagrams
Can someone please point me to the PDF that I thought I saw here that show's all the Riv upright handlebars super imposed on one another. I believe it was a link to an older riv reader. I have a friend needing to be more upright because of neck and shoulder issues and is looking at the Bosco and Albatross bars. Re: [RBW] 67 cm A Homer Hilsen FS
Thanks for the emails. A sale is pending on the AHH and Phil Wheel set. I'll post some other stuff for sale soon, on my Flickr site, including a grey check half-loaf Sackville bag, $95. Thanks, David On May 25, 2013, at 5:14 PM, davidmcc bikem...@olympus.net wrote: I have a lightly used 67cm AHH for sale. Love the bike but I have to let this one go. I bought it from Riv in 2010. I love the bike but have to down size at this point, my loss and the next tall guy's gain. Never crashed, not ridden hard, most parts new at time of purchase, campy shifters are older but work fine. I love what Rivendell creates but need to cut down to two bikes at this time of my life. Here is a link to several pictures and I can send more if you would like some more, http://www.flickr.com/photos/d7mcc/ Waterford built 67cm AHH frame, some chain suck on BB shell and a few paint dings but minor Mark's front rack, plus I have all the factory issued stays and parts, if you want to mount it on the rear. Silver brake set Orange velo 45cm hammered fenders Sugino 48-36-24, 175mm cranks Synchros seatpost and handlebars Campy Chorus Ergo 8spd Campy Rear Racing Triple derailer with Avid shift mate Campy Mirage Front derailer Original Riv Bike box to ship the bike to you. As most of us have, I mixed and matched parts for my different desires at different times. The Campy 8spd Chorus Ergo, shifts nicely and work fine and can be rebuilt (down the road) as opposed to Shimano brifters. Asking $1,900 plus shipping for the above, I have over $2,600 in parts at time of purchase invested (not including shifters, seatpost, handlebars, etc.). New frame is now $2,300. Any questions or offers, just let me know, I want this bike to find a good home, it's fun to ride. Us tall guys are well serviced by Rivendell. I'm new to this oneline selling business and have more stuff to shed, such as a Sackville half-loaf bag, and other bike hardware. I'll keep posting pictures to my Flickr site. I ran different wheel sets including an older OpenPro 32 spoke PhilWood 8 spd freewheel rear and std PhilWood front most recently as well as an OpenPro Schmidt front generator setup as seen in one of the pictures. I'm open to discussion about these other parts to an interested party. Thanks, David -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
