[RBW] Re: Help! Chain/tire rub problem with my Susie build

2020-06-27 Thread David Strong
Bottom Bracket spacers are made for exactly that purpose and wont mess up
the integrity of the BB as long as you are following the recommended
configurations. Having an external bb and 2x12 drivetrain might just
inherently conflict with 2.6" tires on this frame unfortunately. What does
Riv say is compatible? I wouldnt be surprised if they have a trick to make
it work

Re: [RBW] Re: Speaking of merit badges...Association of Caffeinated Wheelmen

2013-02-28 Thread David Strong
Jinxed, Just saw this video about Google Forms. I haven't dived into it
yet, but the video on this link seems to suggest that it could be a simple
way for you to get orders gathered up, or at least get an idea of who wants
pins/patches, and how many... Not sure this is a perfect solution, but
seems pretty organized. Hope it helps

 David,

Hey there!! Yea...I am the ground zero on the ACW. I might have a pin or
two stashed away, but I'll have to look.

I have already consulted an embroidery company on doing patches after a
lengthy and fun chat with Harry Hugel at Rivendell. Jeeze, that was a year
ago I think!! Man time just keeps rolling on. I used to be a commercial
embroiderer by trade so a patch was always on the burner. The pins were
unexpectedly CRAZY popular when I did them and I didnt anticipate the
shipping charges well nor a very streamlined ordering process

SO that said...I'd be happy to do another lapel pin run, and or patch run,
IF I could come up with some officially non-official AND simple way to take
orders. Do any of you know an easy way to do this? The last time I took
email orders and it was crazy to keep track of as many people use different
emails for contact and paypal, not to mention screen names.

The solid brass cloisonné pins would need to bump from $6 to $8 if the
pricing is the same. They were spendy, and shipping was more than I
estimated. I just need to break even...these were for fun, not money. Patch
pricing TBD but is usually based on stitch count which is connected to
size. Which brings up a question...what size patch?? Based on the design
and my experience, minimum would need to be 3 - 3.25 diameter. Too small?
 Too big?

Jinxed, Any chance you could get more pins? Or get patches made with the
ACW logo?

I am no deadbeat and I will take care of anyone who wants one...I just
 need to restock.

I cant believe the awesome responses and stories I have received in

Re: [RBW] Re: Speaking of merit badges...Association of Caffeinated Wheelmen

2013-02-15 Thread David Strong
I have no clue about tracking orders. There's gotta be some sort of Google
Doc that might be useful. I would definitely care to order a pin if
possible and am still super interested in the patch idea but have no idea
how complicated that goes. My only thought is on the ACW blogspot blog,
maybe you could post paypal info and advertise a pre-order with a cutoff
date. That may have been what you did before. Not sure there is a way to
organize a lot of folk at that point though. Thanks again for your help in
getting the ball rolling again - I'm very stoked if it works out. Cheers

PLEASE HOLD OFF on any further orders...let me look into creating a proper

I get in touch with the pin people tomorrow and see what timing and
pricing look like now. I will follow up when I have info. I will assume
they kept the dies and if production is the same it was @ 3 week
 turnaround.

 Are you a member?

So here is the story...turning the way-back machine to about 1996,
some friends and I were sitting over coffee after a ride and started
to recount how many times we had done this. As it turned out, it was
apparent that not only had the vast majority of our rides (bike,
motorcycle, skateboard, snowboard...) started or ended over coffee,
but many of our good friends and riding partners were met at the cafes
we were frequenting. We had a pretty good network that spanned darn
near coast to coast. An Association of Caffeinated Wheelmen I
blurted out while simultaneously sketching out a logo on the
 napkin

Fast forward to about 6 months ago, I was digging through some piles
of artwork looking for something, and stumbled on my original sketch.
All of the patches and hats we had originally done up were long
retired, lost, or given away...so I got in touch with some of the
original ACW's and told them I was going to mint some lapel
pins...everyone chipped in to beat the minimums.

Our whole thing was very tongue in cheek, but we wanted it to have an
old money-secret society-unleash the hounds type of feel to it.
Anyway after finding the iBob's / ROB's and meeting so many awesome
people and reading about the network that exists between the riders, I
thought it would be cool to expand the ACW.

It's all for fun and conversation, and really just a bit of decoration
for the bags, hats etc...but wanted to offer them up. I have @ 20-30
or so left of the lapel pins, but we can do more if interest is there.
We were also contemplating doing up some patches too?

$6/pc shipped to you. Trades for your club pins is good too. For
that matter no interesting trade would be turned down. Drop me line
hbc...@yahoo.com javascript: or just paypal me there with your info!

Stay thirsty my friendsfor coffee. ;)
