[RBW] FS: Seagull Trail Breaker bag for Wald 137 Front Basket

2020-04-24 Thread Jared Volpe
Great bag. Barely used. Basically new. Not available anymore as Seagull
went out of business.

Side wings wrap over the basket to hold your bag in place, so you can hit
the trail knowing your bag’s going to stay in place.
No need for a cargo net and no more rattling on uneven terrain!

It comes with the detachable shoulder strap.

Asking $140.

[RBW] Bike with Riv-like geometry for kids - gravel

2019-09-28 Thread Jared Volpe
Hey all,

I’m looking for a new bike for our daughter. Truth told most of our miles are
around the city but we take to gravel now and again. She doesn’t want a
mountain bike. Something step through and more upright like a Clem or a Chev
are interesting but I don’t want to spend that much because she’ll grow out of
it.

She is tall for her age and like me, has long legs. She is 60” and (yes we
measured it) her PBH is 30”.

Any suggestions?

[RBW] FS: Sackville SlickerSack for Nitto Platrack - Excellent (barely used) Condition

2016-12-31 Thread Jared Volpe
Hey there. I'm selling my Sackville SlickerSack. If you have the Nitto
Platrack and have been wondering what to do with it, you should buy this
bag. It is pretty amazing. Plus it has been discontinued by Riv and they
don't come up for sale often... so here is your chance to get one in
excellent condition.

You can read more about the bag and see pics here:
https://thirtydayson2wheels.wordpress.com/2010/07/05/a-little-bit-about-the-gear-and-my-sackville-slickersack-review/

Asking $165. Cash preferred. I'd rather a local purchase but will consider
shipping and other payments methods.

I was going to do the Andy Schmidt modification

and add turn clasps to the bottom of the bag to replace of the regular
snaps, which makes it easier to attach the bag to the rack. I have the
parts somewhere if you are interested and I'll throw them in. I talked with
Narian's
in Berkeley and
they could totally do it on the cheap.

DM me if you are interested.

Happy New Year!

Very good used condition with some minor scuffs on the bottom and back leather

[RBW] Beater Crankset Broken... Saving for Rivendell... Help?

2012-09-04 Thread Jared Volpe

Hi All,

The crankset on my beater broke. Does anybody in Oakland or Berkeley have
a crankset they would like to give me or trade for a coffee? I tried to
attach a photo of what I have but Google isn't having it today. I'll try
to update after I successfully post. If you have something and you want me
to send pictures, let me know.

I'm tall, so is the vintage Fuji frame. If one of you has a beater
crankset taking space in your parts box that'll keep me from taking $100
out of my Rivendell savings fund I'll be grateful!

Thanks!

[RBW] Re: My Quickbeam

2012-05-14 Thread Jared Volpe
Thinking of picking up a Qbeam. Want a bike that I can use to
commute, shop, S24s. Can a Qbeam cover it in your experience/opinion?

I don't know why but the Qbeam is my favorite.  Over the last few years it
has gotten 90% of the miles.  It is my trainer, commuter and all around ride.
It has had a Shimano generater hub on it for at least 5 year and it is still
going strong.  Other then that it is a standard QB build.  I am even thinking
about getting a Simple One for commuting and a set the QB up for
 randoneurring.

The more you ride it the more you will like it.

Well I had a great ride and think I'm lovin it.  I decided to go cheap so
built the wheels from some 10 year old rims that had been hanging on the
wall.  An old stock set from my Giant OCR Tour bike.  I built up 36 hole
  wheels for it back then.
So I put the shimano dyno instead of Schmidt and cyo-s instead of Edelux -
700/38 Bontrager wire bead tires (what 24 bucks a piece). Standard brooks
saddle .. Anyway..I don't notice anything being cheap except in my pocket
  book.
Oh ya 60 dollar bottom bracket.

After several hundred miles it still makes me smile.

[RBW] Re: WTB: 64cm skinny tire + fenders roadbike

2012-04-09 Thread Jared Volpe
Ryan,

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm still looking for someone who is
looking to shed a 64 SH, 62 Hunq, 64 Bomba, or 67 AHH. If I don't
find one soon I'm going to break down and buy a 64cm Surly LHT but it
will likely be too small. I hope someone will save me from this
fate!

I'm 95-96cm in the PBH. Comfortable with a seat height of 83 - 84cm.

I'm looking to do some commuting and short ( 1 week) tours. Fire
roads, back roads, etc. Seems like a lot of Rivs would fit the bill.

According to Keven@Riv the following frames would work:
64cm Sam Hillborne
62cm Hunqapillar
64cm Bombadil
67cm AHH

Do you have a Riv you want to sell? Drop me a line if so.

It was way more than what I was looking for but I couldn't pass it up. Once
the deal goes through and I move some parts over I'll post pics.

If anyone is looking to buy a bike I highly recommend a post to this group.
There are some amazing bikes not being ridden enough in here!

 Thanks again,

Interested in frame only, or full bike. Time to thin your herd and let
