What cranks are those? They look like the 110bcd Ritchey Logic cranks. I'm on
the hunt for some 94bcd Ritchey Compact cranks at the moment.

[RBW] WTB: 700c SONdelux or SV-8 wheelset or good rando rims

2022-07-24 Thread Nikko Mendoza

Hey y’all,

Looking for a good rando worthy 700c wheelset. Only low-drag dynos please.
SONdelux or SV-8. Rim brake, of course. Tires mounted will be 38mm for the
curious.

Alternatively, if someone has lightly used-to-new Pacenti Brevet or a similar
pair of rims, that might work too!

I’m in Oakland if someone wants to do local transactions to save from the
shipping woes.

Thanks!

Re: [RBW] silver shifter slip under load

2020-10-06 Thread Nikko Mendoza
Hey Sam,

I just got some brand new Silver Shifters (v1) today that I put on with
some VO thumbies. I'm having a similar-ish problem and wondering if you're
experiencing the same, but more along the lines of the problem J L
mentioned (spring return) .

My problem is that the shifting for the front shifter is suuper hard to
do. Is this similar to your problem? I push the shifter pretty hard and I
feel like I'm definitely forcing it. I finally get it to shift, but then I
do that a couple more times, and at this point the cable is looser than it
was before, getting pulled out of the tensioning screw. Do you think the
problem is similar, or is this really just a difference in the spring
return of the front derailleur?

Re: [RBW] BRP

2020-10-01 Thread Nikko Mendoza
Hey Ray,

Cycling is a predominantly white sport. Part of Diversity and Inclusion is
creating the space and accessibility for Black Folx to enter these spaces where
they felt welcomed because the spaces didn’t seem to have representation from
people like them. Certainly, as a brown cyclist, I still don’t feel welcomed in
many of these spaces because I don’t often see brown people on these group
rides or camp outs. That’s to no fault of the individuals, but the history of
the sport.

I think of this as a way for Rivendell to more directly impact that bottom line
of diversity within the niche bicycle space that they exists in, while still
furthering their brand and business.

And yes, it gets complicated from a verification standpoint, but that’s where
Rivendell is employing the trust of their niche consumer base. The cost of a
Riv complete with a 45% discount is still more than the price of say a Surly
Straggler. Someone could still go to another bicycle company and get a bike,
but instead they’re buying into a company and niche that feels more inclusive
than the rest of the bicycle industry.

Cycling is a historically White sport. Cycling is a historically racist sport.
Therefore, I personally believe the word “reparations” to describe this effort
the sport more inclusive to Black folx is correct.

I know you’re not shooting down the idea, Ray, but I hope that I could share
some perspective!

Believing in creating inclusive spaces,
Nikko
