It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to build it up. In fact, it took me 7 months. I kept going back and forth between an upright and a traditional randonneur-style bike. My intent is to finally get out for some real nice long adventures. I've got the upright thing covered, so I decided to go full speed ahead with the randonneur design. I spent hours/days/weeks staring at the builds on Cyclofiend.com. (Thanks Jim for all your efforts...an invaluable asset during my build.) I needed a little help here and there and worked with my LBS to get through the finish line. I learned a lot in the process. My LBS owner was in awe and I showed him a few of the other models on the site. Anyway, that's my story. David - Well, January 10 will be the third PCH Randos 200K ride, and definitely the flattest. Don't believe what the PCHR website says about 3000-3500 feet of climbing. I rode a nearly identical route in September (the Montecito Malibu Meander 203K RUSA permanent) and it clocked 1900 feet of climbing. (I guess I should pass that info on to the PCHR webmaster!)
