[RBW] WTB or trade 57 Gus

2022-02-21 Thread Ron Frazelle
Hi,

Looking to buy a 57 (PBH 87) Gus frameset. Or if you wanted to trade for a
new (45 miles) Aventon Level Commuter Ebike, that would be awesome!

Let me know.

2022-01-03 Thread Ron Frazelle
I use a Wahoo Elemnt ROAM. It uploads automatically to Strava. And I use a
K-Edge time trial computer mount. It goes on the bars that are out front on
a TT bike, so it has the 22.2 clamping size that fits the bars on my Clem.
Works great.

Hey guys,

The stem is 110mm and I think is spoken for...but haven't received his zip
for shipping. I will let you know if I don't hear anything by tomorrow.

The cranks are 173mm...seems small for a 59cm, but alas... that's what was
spec'd.

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes. Bit Grant's "maxed out" Clem L is
running 2.5's. and had to modify the rear cassette so the chain didn't run
the rear tire in the granny.

[RBW] Inspiring Clem Smith Jr L builds!!

2021-11-01 Thread Ron Frazelle
Hi all,

I just bought my first Rivendell (Clem Smith Jr. L) and I am beyond stoked
to drive up and pick it up! I was originally looking for an Atlantis frame
and fork...but kept looking at Grant's Clem Smith Jr L (maxed out) in the
*Staff
Bikes* section of the site...it really seemed to be calling to me. And
then, with the Riv site redesign (which I like much better BTW), there is
the picture representing "Trailish" bikes of Grant's Clem battling a pretty
gnarly root section...just muddying up my decision making process...which
isn't hard to do, BTW.

After discussing my "dilemma" over a few wonderfully lengthy, phone calls
with Hugh covering so much bike geekery, I decided to pull the trigger on
buying one of the leftover 59 complete bikes that were left.

Since I was originally looking for a frame and fork, I have a lot of my own
parts (both bought and pulled from the bin o' parts) for this bike and I
will be replacing some of the parts on the complete.

If you guys don't mind playing along...I would love it if you fellow Clem
Smith Jr L owners could send over some pics of your builds.

That would be awesome.

Thanks! :)

Chiming in.

As a Clydesdale that "rides light" and chooses to buy quality wheels when I

ever...even loaded with bike packing gear.

In agreement with Eric and Bill.

 Hey all!
 Hypothetically...does an Atlas wheel set with 32 spokes for a 6'3" 210
pound dude make sense if he's on an unloaded Sam and using it as an
all-road bike? No singletrack/mountain biking, jumping, etc... Tires would
be AT LEAST 40mm, possibly up to 44mm.

OR...is it 36h or bust if you're a big fellow?

 Thanks,

Re: [RBW] Re: 26.8mm seat post diameter??

2021-10-18 Thread Ron Frazelle
Yeah, when I finally made the decision to actually buy a Rivendell instead
of just lusting after one...I was actually surprised that the frames aren't
spec'd with 27.2 seat tubes...its always been kinda the unofficial size for
steel frames.

It's Grant though, so 🤘

Re: [RBW] 26.8mm seat post diameter??

2021-10-18 Thread Ron Frazelle
Sometimes when it comes to manufacturing, it's just about part number
rationalization...less part numbers to buy...less tooling costs. I don't
know if all of the other models are 26.8, but if they are this could be the
reasoning. It's just a guess though.
