It sounds like the issue is that you don't love it. There are so many bikes to love out there, I wouldn't keep one (For too long) that you don't love. I like the NEOS over shoes (boots). I wore them all winter long in southern New England and now barely wear them in Nashville. The great bonus for commuting is that you can just take them off and have normal shoes underneath! Devil's gear was getting more Riv ish when I lived there a few years ago, embracing Civias, Brooks saddles and other things. I am going to: do some basic maintenance like cleaning drivetrains (no, I do not keep my bikes in Ecovelo clean shape!). I also want to add dynohub lighting to my wife's bike. I have been loving my dyno set up, but I can't really justify buying a whole new wheel for her just for that, so I think I am going to try out a bottle dynamo for that project. [RBW] Big Guy Saddle Question
I have a VO Model 8, sprung and similar in dimensions to the B67. I have it on my cargo bike and ride upright. I am 210 pounds and I think I am a bit big for it. I don't know if it is my size, but the two rivets on the side of the nose failed. I have a few questions: 1. Is the B67 leather thicker or more substantial? I think it is 5mm wider - would that make a difference? 2. Did my weight cause the rivets to fail? 3. Do I need to step up to one of the heavy duty (and heavy cost) Brooks models like the B33? How would I attach such a thing to a typical single rail seat post? 4. Do I need to replace those rivets? If so, how? I think that diagonal tube is great. Rivendell can keep making the Atlantis forever (and they should), but when they introduce a new bike, it is nice that they really do something different. If you want parallel top tubes, the Bombadil is there for you. My only beef is that the gray is a bit drab for my tastes. Like many Riv products those are heinous looking and (mildly) practical. I first saw them yesterday and chuckled, but then riding home in the rain with water repellent pants and jacket, I thought they might serve a use for commuters like me. In the winter I use NEOS overshoes, but they are a lot to lug around and your feet can heat up in there.
